I paid for a Apartment Junior with 1 living room and 1 SEPARATE bedroom. As stated on Booking and confirmed in the reservation. I got one ordinary room with twin beds. Immediate complaint to the manager. Complaint rejected, the manager told me that he doesn't care what I write in the reviews. I feel cheated.

Permanently clogged drain in the shower. After two days I had to take it apart and clean it myself. That's not something you want to do in a $450/night room. Irregular room cleaning, insufficient number of towels for the number of guests staying. It's a bloody overpriced, with service level at three stars hotel with dirty windows. We only got three towels for four guests, but there was only one hanger in the bathroom anyway. The insufficient number of sunbeds makes staying by the pool unpleasant. I ordered two Daiquiri cocktails. It tasted like it was made from some kind of cleaning product. The bartender apparently had never heard of an ice crush. It would be ridiculous if it wasn't happen at Michelin restaurant, $10/glass. Most of the problems stem from the extremely limited language skills of the staff, which is striking especially at the reception. Absolutely incomprehensible for a manager on duty. Totally unacceptable for a hotel that pretends to be of the highest standard and charges rates like this.

The location was very center to everything. The room was in good size and the city view was superb. Breakfast was ok.

The bathroom was not clean enough. The tiles was not clean for the money we paid to stay the condition should be tip top.

Stay at the Montien Hotel Surawong

We liked the size of the room, very spacious. Very clean and good amenities. The staff were very friendly, particularly the porters.

Buffet could have had some more vegetarian options as there was a lot of pork.

Superb

Amazing hotel, perfect location with polite and efficient staff. Highly recommended.

The breakfast was exceptional. The view across the city was fantastic. Wonderful laundry service. Polite and efficient staff. Comfortable, clean and a wonderful bar for cocktails. Lovely food. Its a big hotel but somehow it maintained a personal and intimate atmosphere. The General manager introduced himself and chatted for a while. This was much appreciated as it is not the norm. We were very well treated by all concerned and we were very happy guests.

Only one thing. We stayed for an evening meal. All the occupants were eating Asian food but being British, we were taken to a separate room, alone and with a British menu. I should have said that we didnt want that but we stayed with it and regret it. We would have preferred to be treated like locals and not as foreigners. Im sure they had our best intentions at heart but it wasnt what we wanted. Its my fault, I should have asked to join the main dining room.

Another delightful stay at the Montien

At check in I was repeatedly told my stay 'did not include breakfast' despite my booking clearly stating it did. This became highly irritating and not what you look for after a long flight. Eventually it was agreed breakfast was included. But what a ridiculous palaver!
