La Maison Varkala

1) Hefty advance amount sought much before the actual booking dates (almost 50% amount is asked as pre booking , even though we had booked cancelable rooms on booking.com) 2) No security on property at night - guests themselves opened the gate and entered/closed the gates. Anyone can enter in the property. 3) No rules on smoking in front of other guests' rooms. The only way of ventilation was the window and if someone smokes outside the window, how will the person inside the room be comfortable? After requesting to stop people from smoking, owners said they can't stop other guests from smoking. 4) Unleashed dog was more of a scare in the guests' premises. 5) Deceptive pictures of the room on booking.com : All the pictures shared on the site are of cottages, one gets the impression that all rooms of the property would be cottages. However, they have two sets of rooms, some are cottages and some are non cottages. 6) Pathetic Treatment of guests: - No support in moving the luggage even when they noticed that some elderly female guests had to lift heavy bags to distant rooms. - No transparency regarding house rules, chased guests to wash tea utensils during the check out time. - They treated as if they are running a charity and the guests are living for free - No basic etiquette of welcoming the guests. 7) Lack of transparency on the website about the available room amenities. 8) No co-operation by the staff in case of emergency medical issues 9) Water supply issue : - Was not able to even take a shower during the entire stay after paying so much for the property. - Water-tap was leaking in one of the rooms ( please refer to the picture attached) 10) Room rent is way higher than the available facilities. One feels cheated after staying in their rooms as they charge a hefty pre booking amount and there is no going back after you actually witness the misbehaviour and lack of co-operation by the owner who runs this homestay.
