It wouldve been lovely, to have mosquito nets covering the windows. Prevents sleepless nights.

We opted for a 3bed room, and the beds were so comfortable to sleep in. We had a very comfortable stay here in Johnsons Homestay. Mr. Johnson, the owner was really feasible and friendly. He was absolutely professional and made sure everything was okay with our stay. Would recommend if you need a great accommodation to stay at and which is also close to the beach and the railway station.

+ Johnson is awesome great guy, he gave us a ride to kochi for free + the tour he offered (canoe) was very good (locals experience) and compared to others cheap (we did another tour where we randomly selected a provider) - on the tour they do what you want + the room was as showed by Johnson (he sent before a video of the room) - Homestay room

Led astray by misleading booking.com rating, absolutely not worth the money

AC was strong, breakfast and lunch were home cooked by a very nice woman.

Room was up a rickety flight of stairs that felt like a construction zone, bathroom was partially exposed with no shower barrier so showering required flooding the floor (obviously no body wash provided) and and acoustics allowed you to directly hear everything in other bathrooms nearby. Floor was peeling, comforters were scratchy wool, door didnt properly close so you either had to leave it ajar and risk bugs or lock friends inside if they were still in there. Our room was not ready at check in, host forgot he had organized a canoe tour for us so that started late, squeezed us into his car to get there (while actively asking us about the Israel - Hamas war when he clearly disagreed with our opinions) then only 2/4 guests could sit comfortably in the canoe, run by his chef friend instead of a proper tourism company. Natural beauty was nice but the tour was the opposite of premium and certainly not worth the nearly $50 usd charged for the simple meal, snacks, and basic rowboat. The host also claimed he didnt have a credit card reader and we had to pay for both the tour and accommodation in cash (which he told us while standing shirtless in his boxers) contrary to the booking.com listing. I have never felt so misled in my life by a booking.com rating/ listing, and would not recommend this unless you are a 19 year old looking for hostel-type experience on a budget. I didnt check google reviews before checking in but this host has a history of berating and gaslighting guests. We were on edge during our stay and I have no doubt hell have some choice words for us as well so booking.com, please take note.

The owner, Mr. Johnson, truly embodies hospitality at its finest. His warm and helpful nature made our stay unforgettable. Mr. Johnson went above and beyond, providing invaluable guidance and assistance when we needed it the most. His polite demeanor added a personal touch to our visit. Canoe trip is a highlight!

We stayed here for 2 nights and had a great stay. The place is close to all places. The beds are comfortable and great even for taller people. We booked the canoe trip and it was a highlight of our trip. We started in a village in the backwaters, where we were the only tourists. Beautiful sunrise and scenery! After the first phase of the canoe trip, my girlfriend felt really sick. It was probably because of the street food we had a day earlier.. Valentine, who manages the trip in the village, helped us immediately. He bought some medicine and let us use a complete house in the village, where my girlfriend could rest. We thought that the canoe trip was over, as we couldnt continue in the morning. But around noon my girlfriend got better and Valentine offered us the chance, to continue the trip in the afternoon, after resting a little bit more in the house. He also prepared delicious breakfast and lunch. It was a great day in the village and we really enjoyed the hospitality of Valentine and the other people from the village. Thank you for everything! We will surely be back one day :-)

Alleppey

We found this accomodation on booking.com and gave it a try. It was a good decision, we enjoyed our stay here. The host was very welcoming, being there at our disposal but not disturbing us. Our room was simple and big and comfortable with an attached bathroom, hot water was available. I liked that all information is given in a message after booking, with clear rules, covering everything. We know what to expect and the host is very straightforward with us. Thank you for the pleasant stay, Mr Johnson.
