Just perfect: I really felt at home in Yanaka, the room was so beautiful and clean and the "the whole town is your hotel" concept gave me the chance to try many things I would probably have missed otherwise (just to name one, the late night sent.. thanks Fuyu!). The staff was so friendly and helpful (thanks Momo for all explanation about the post office delivery!). I will go back someday

Incredible, local stay in Tokyo. I will absolutely be staying here again and recommending it

Breakfast was a great touch, sento was super convenient and allowed people with tattoos. The staff was so nice and kind really started to feel like home 6,500 miles away. 10/10 :)

Really nothing I would change, maybe it would be cool to have a guest dinner option to connect with other travelers but nothing about the stay I would have anything negative to say about.

A unique creative place to stay in a lovely neighbourhood away from the hustle and bustle.

Staying at Hanare was one of the highlights of our trip. The staff were personal, generous with their time and knowledgeable. We loved the breakfast and thoughtful note left for us by our host. The area is a creative hub, a wonderful place to wander and enjoy the cafes and small eateries/bars. We would love to stay again!

The room was quite small, especially if you are tall, but it wasn't a problem.

Well-designed accommodation in an old-style Tokyo neighborhood, with great amenities

I love the core concept of this 'scattered hotel' that encourages guests to engage with the community. From the welcome walking tour of the neighborhood, to a detailed map and restaurant recommendations, to the tickets to the neighborhood bathhouse, I really felt anchored in a sense of place. Breakfast is in a separate building down the road. For a solo traveler, my tatami mat room and adjacent but private toilet (shared shower) were perfect. Neighborhood is lots of fun to explore, and the 'concierge' was so helpful, and warm, and responsive. Wonderful experience.

Stay minimal but satisfy maximal!

Great to stay minimal! Good staff and their hospitality helps to make your satisfaction maximal!

In my age, it was a little hard to sit on the floor/tatami to work with my PC. Maybe worth considering Zaisu, a seat on the floor. When with heavy luggage better to stay in the ground floor.

The staff, locations and breakfast were all wonderful. A great choice to explore a calmer part of Tokyo while still convenient to transit.

Shower facilities were lackluster, but the nearby public baths more than made up for it. Being an older building sound traveled readily between rooms, made it challenging if you wanted to make a phone call from the room.

We loved the place, friendly staff, atmosphere and area

Breakfast was totally delicious in lovely cafe area

It would have been nice to be able to have lunch or dinner in the cafe but it wasnt open in the evenings the nights we were there but lots of places to eat around the area so it didnt matter
