Disappointing

Expensive, disappointing and poor value for money

Magnificent location with breathtaking views

The pre-arrival communication was not very welcoming and was mostly a list of rules and dont dos! The road to Cayley is extremely bad and a four wheel drive vehicle is recommended if one doesnt want to damage your car! Restaurant service takes extremely long and the way the restaurant manager treats the staff was out right shocking! If we had another option for dinner we would have left. Our unit window was broken and fixed with transparent tape and the pool cover was not functioning. After complaining, we were moved to another unit where the dishwasher did not work and a the shower drain was blocked. To top it all a baby cot was not available despite us booking one 6 months in advance. After speaking to the manager they promised to provide one the following day which they did. Overall I wished we booked somewhere else! We will most certainly not return to Cayley. The lodge is one of the most expensive in the Drakensberg and most definitely not worth the price! We stayed at several other places in the Drakensberg which offer much more value for money!

The views were exquisite, water activities were great fun. The grounds are well maintained.

We paid a lot of money for a 3 night stay, and we were not expecting a dysfunctional unit, no hot water in 3 of the 4 bedrooms, main bathroom door does not close, kitchen cupboards not opening, door knobs falling off, not enough or big enough kitchen utensils for a unit meant to cater for 10, kitchen taps loose, no cushions on outdoor furniture, the general maintenance of the unit was just poor. The outdoor bedroom was humid and damp. No house keeping on Sundays...

The staff were very friendly and assistance was good. The resort is very nice.

The loadshedding and no notice. We should have been informed when booking that loadshedding is up to 4 hours at a time. Also the drive to water park is not suitable for all vehicles maybe transport should be provided to take people down.

Id love to come back when the weather is better.

The restaurant staff was amazing. The views. The privacy.

The food was not up to par. The menu is also very limited and did not have enough options. THE ROAD leading up to the lodge. Upon coming back to our room after room service was done, we realized that the bedding was not changed. Given that the bedding is white, we expect that it would be changed on a daily.
