Its a historical hotel but could use some TLC!

We loved that it was so close to University, walkable neighborhood and easy to get around. Dinner and service in the bar were excellent as were the cocktails. The view from top floor was great!

The room must have been a full bed which was entirely too small (husband is 66) as we expected a queen size bed. Also when checking in we got keys for a room that guests still occupied so had to sort that out with the front desk which was annoying and then when checking out we received another guest final bill vs ours.

Lovely old club. Not your usual hotel. Loved walking around the hotel and the staff mostly was

breakfast was excellent - the food and dining room and staff.

The room was cold when I arrived and had a difficult time getting the staff to turn on the heat.

A hidden Berkeley time capsule of divine and delightful detail!

The City Club is a treasure! Such extraordinary beauty has been lovingly preserved at every turn of this lovely old gem...to be able to wander around admiring all of the Art Nouveau finery and detail is a dream! We spent forever by the pool just imagining how it must have been in the roaring twenties , and how lucky we were to still have it today! Truly amazing and delightful!

Excellent hotel - walking distance to UC Berkeley.

Breakfast was great! Location was excellent - close by campus of UC Berkeley - made visit to our kids very nice. The hotel is a historic place and all decors are like antiques - very old school and nice. We had a room with the view of Bay and Golden Gate bridges and SF city (top floor).

It's pricy when a lot of parents are visiting UC Berkeley students. Bottled water was offered in room but expensive. They have drinking water in the lobby every day but we missed it late at night.
