Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Nairobi – Samburu Game Reserve
Meet and greet services on arrival in the morning at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or pick-up from your hotel at 06:30 AM by our driver-guide. We depart and head north to the Samburu Game Reserve, passing through scenic landscapes and the northern frontier. Arrive in time for lunch at your camp or lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy your first game drive in this reserve, renowned for its exclusive wildlife such as the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, and gerenuk. Dinner and overnight at your camp/lodge on a full-board basis.
Spend the entire day exploring Samburu with morning, mid-morning, and afternoon game drives. The early morning offers the best light for photography and excellent chances to spot predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs. You may opt for a full-day game drive with picnic lunch boxes or return to your lodge for meals. An optional visit to a Samburu Village is available at an extra cost to experience the vibrant culture and traditions of the Samburu people. Expect sightings of elephants, buffaloes, and crocodiles in the Uaso Nyiro River, along with a rich variety of birdlife. Dinner and overnight at your camp/lodge on a full-board basis.
After an early breakfast, we depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, often referred to as the pink lake due to the presence of thousands of flamingos. The park is also home to both black and white rhinos, giraffes, lions, and various other wildlife species. Enjoy lunch upon arrival followed by an afternoon game drive. Expect guaranteed sightings of endangered rhino species in this scenic park. Dinner and overnight at your camp/lodge on a full-board basis.
After breakfast, we continue our journey towards Masai Mara, passing through picturesque farmlands and the Great Rift Valley. Arrive at your camp or lodge for lunch followed by a thrilling afternoon game drive. The Masai Mara is one of Africa’s premier wildlife reserves, home to the Big Five and the site of the Great Migration from July to October. Return to your camp/lodge for dinner and overnight on a full-board basis.
Today is dedicated to game viewing in the Masai Mara. Explore the vast plains in search of the Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. The reserve is also home to giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, jackals, antelopes, crocodiles, and over 450 bird species. During the migration season (July to September), the landscape is alive with dramatic wildlife movement. A picnic lunch is provided in the park. Dinner and overnight at your camp/lodge on a full-board basis.
Enjoy another full day in the Masai Mara with early morning and late afternoon game drives. Today’s highlight includes a picnic lunch by the Hippo Pool, where you can observe hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitat. Return to your camp/lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay on a full-board basis.
After breakfast at around 9:00 AM, begin your return journey to Nairobi with en-route wildlife viewing. Upon arrival, you'll be dropped off at your city hotel for a well-earned rest or at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward travel. We had a great experience with Linus from Rocktrek Safari's. He was a passionate, experienced tour guide/driver. Our accommodation lodge was perfect for us and the staff at Royal Zebra Lodge could not (Read More) do enough for us. Our visit to the Maasai Mara Village was an enjoyable learning experience. Would recommend this tour company to others - couples; families or groups

Our safari adventure was superb! We had a large group with 3 vehicles, and the team from RockTrek led us from Nairobi to Masai Mara, then on several excursions into the reserve where we had amazing vi (Read More)ews of the animals, from cheetahs to wildebeasts, lions to gazelles, elephants, zebras, and more. The drivers were so knowledgeable and helpful, the vistas breathtaking, and the lodge excellent. I cannot recommend RockTrek enough; when we return with another group next year, we will most certainly be in contact with them again!
