Day 1 Arrive in Guwahati – Shillong
Your journey begins as you arrive at Guwahati airport or railway station. From here, you'll be transferred to Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya, fondly known as the “Scotland of the East.” On the way, stop by the serene Umiam Lake — a vast reservoir surrounded by pine-covered hills, perfect for capturing your first scenic views of the state. Upon arrival in Shillong, check into your hotel and relax. Nestled at an altitude of 1496m, Shillong is a charming hill town with colonial-era architecture and pleasant weather year-round.

After breakfast, head out for a full-day excursion to Cherrapunjee, one of the wettest places on Earth. The journey to Cherrapunjee, locally known as Sohra, is scenic and rewarding. Begin your exploration with a visit to Arwah Cave and then continue to other top attractions like Nohkalikai Falls – the tallest plunge waterfall in India, the mysterious Mawsmai Cave, the beautiful Seven Sister Falls, the Eco Park, the Garden of Caves, and Thangkharang Park which offers sweeping views of the plains of Bangladesh. After an adventurous day, return to Shillong for the night.

Start your day with breakfast at the hotel, followed by a full day of sightseeing in Shillong. Visit Ward’s Lake, ideal for a morning stroll and boating. Today, after breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Dawki near the Indo-Bangladesh border. Here, you’ll be captivated by the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River — don’t miss the opportunity for a peaceful country boat ride (on direct payment). Later, continue to Mawlynnong Village, famously known as the “Cleanest Village in Asia.” Walk through spotless lanes, admire the balancing rock formation, and take a short trek to the Living Root Bridge at nearby Riwai village. This eco-tourism haven is not only beautiful but also a shining example of community-driven tourism. Return to Shillong by evening.
Overnight stay in Shillong.
After breakfast, check out and drive back to Guwahati. You’ll be dropped at the airport or railway station in time for your onward journey with beautiful memories of Meghalaya’s landscapes, villages, waterfalls, and warm hospitality.

I had booked 7D trip to Meghalaya. Driver and Sedan car provided was good. Out (Read More) of the three stays, First one - Woodland hill stay at Shillong was like a home stay accommodation with limited meal option and complimentary breakfast was just one item. Food was ok. Second one - Riverside resort at Cherapunjee was like a hotel stay but very limited meal option and the location of the resort is far away from main road and the connection roads were not that good. Complimentary breakfast is just ok ok type with one main item. Third one - Treetops residency at Shillong was like a typical hotel stay with good meal option. complimentary breakfast is good with two items. In addition, so many hotels are near police bazar (shillong) where we can try different cuisines. Driver took us to the places as mentioned in itinerary for the first 4 days.
Remaining 3 days, driver told the tourist spots mentioned in the itinerary are n (Read More)ot that great and took us only to two places. As per the information provided upfront, parking fee is part of the package whereas during the travel, driver paid parking fee only in few areas and we paid in most of the spots. A clear communication about parking fee should have been provided to the driver and travels contact person should ensure that tourist spot visit as per itinerary is happening on daily basis. Since we were from Southern part of India, we were little hesitant to speak out and had language barrier to ask the same to driver.
