Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Guwahati – Shillong | Shillong Local Sightseeing
  • PICKUP: Guwahati Airport / Railway Station
  • Upon arrival at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, you will be met and greeted by our representative.
  • Begin your scenic drive to Shillong (approximately 100 km / 3–3.5 hours).
  • En route, stop at Umiam Lake, a vast hill-framed reservoir known for its calm waters and panoramic views.
  • Upon reaching Shillong, the day's schedule will depend on your arrival time.
  • Note: If your flight or train arrives before 12:00 PM, you will check in to the hotel first and freshen up.
  • Later, visit the Don Bosco Museum, one of the largest museums in Asia showcasing the cultural diversity of Northeast India.
  • Enjoy a peaceful evening at Ward’s Lake, a beautifully landscaped colonial-era lake in the heart of the city.
  • If your arrival is after 12:00 PM, you will visit the Don Bosco Museum directly, then check in to the hotel and unwind before spending the evening at Ward’s Lake.
  • Don Bosco Museum: Insight into the culture and traditions of Northeast India.
  • Ward’s Lake: A serene artificial lake in the heart of the city.
  • Overnight stay in Shillong.

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and begin your journey towards southern Meghalaya (approx. 115 km / 4.5–5 hours in total).

 Start with a visit to the

  •  Glass Mosque, a modern architectural landmark reflecting harmony and inclusivity, followed by the All-Saints Cathedral, a historic Anglican church known for its elegant design.     Continue to
  • Elephant Falls, a popular three-tiered waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. Later, drive to
  • Mawlynnong Village, famously known as Asia’s cleanest village, where traditional Khasi lifestyle and eco-conscious living can be observed.     From here, head to a beautiful
  • Riverside camp by the Dawki River, where you can relax and unwind amidst nature. Enjoy an evening bonfire and bonding session, followed by dinner by the river, and spend a peaceful overnight stay at the riverside camp.

After breakfast, begin the morning with a visit to

  • Dawki Lake, enjoying a serene boating experience on waters so clear that the boats appear to float on air.  
  • By 11:00 AM, depart for Cherrapunji (approx. 85 km / 3.5–4 hours). En route, stop at the majestic
  • Nohkalikai Waterfalls, India’s tallest plunge waterfall, plunging dramatically into a deep gorge.   On arrival at Cherrapunji, check in to a local homestay and spend the rest of the day at leisure, soaking in the cool climate and misty surroundings.  
  •  Overnight stay in Cherrapunji.

Drive towards the

  • Seven Sisters Waterfalls with the aim of reaching by 6:30 AM, the best time to witness the falls when the cascading streams and morning mist create a spectacular panoramic view across the cliffs.     After the visit, continue towards the main Cherrapunji area. En route, you may stop at the
  • Mawsmai Caves, a fascinating limestone cave system known for its narrow passages and natural limestone formations. Note: the visit involves walking and steps and is not advisable for travellers with knee issues or mobility concerns.    
  • Return to the homestay for breakfast.                                                                                    Later in the day, proceed to explore the scenic
  • Garden of Caves of the region, offering lush landscapes and beautiful viewpoints. Continue to 
  • Wei Sawdong Falls (optional), for a quick photo stop, famous for its striking turquoise, multi-tiered cascades hidden within dense forest. Finally, visit the iconic 
  • Double Decker Living Root Bridge, a natural bridge formed from living tree roots and a remarkable example of indigenous Khasi engineering.   Note: Access to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge involves a steep trek with numerous steps, and the route is only downhill while going to the bridge and uphill while returning, which may be physically demanding for some travellers.  
  • Return to the homestay by evening. 
  • Overnight stay in Cherrapunji.              

After Breakfast, check out and begin your return journey towards Guwahati (approx. 180 km / 6–7 hours). En route, stop at

  • Laitlum Canyons, a dramatic cliff-top viewpoint offering sweeping views of deep valleys and rolling hills. Continue to the
  • Mawphlang Sacred Forest, an ancient forest protected by local traditions, known for its rich biodiversity and spiritual significance.    
  • After sightseeing, continue the drive to Guwahati. 
  • Overnight stay in Guwahati.

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed for local sightseeing (approx. 20–30 km / 1–1.5 hours). Visit the revered

  • Maa Kamakhya Temple, one of the most important Shakti Peeths in India, situated atop Nilachal Hill. Later, enjoy a 
  • Ropeway ride (optional) over the Brahmaputra River (Ropeway Tickets not included) offering panoramic aerial views of the mighty river and the city skyline.
  • Spend some leisure time before concluding the tour post lunch.
  • You will then be dropped at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey, bringing an end to a memorable Meghalaya experience.
