Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Haridwar-Barkot
  • From Haridwar, we will drive straight to Barkot.
  • Check into the hotel upon arrival in Barkot.
  • Stay overnight in Barkot.
  • Barkot Weather:
    • Summer: Generally agreeable, with temperatures ranging from 25 to 30 degrees Celsius.
    • Winter: Days are pleasantly cool, but nights are cold, with temperatures ranging from 10 to 5 degrees Celsius.
  • Sightseeing/Transfer Activities:
    • Mussoorie Kempty Fall
    • Lakhamandal Temple
  • Early morning after breakfast (packed breakfast), move to Jankichatti / Phoolchatti.
  • Start trekking from here to Yamunotri (6 km) (either by walking, horseback, or Doli at your own cost).
  • After bathing in the warm waters of Jamunabai Kund and having Darshan of Yamunaji, trek back to Jankichatti.
  • Later, move towards Barkot and stay overnight in Barkot.
  • Yamunotri Temple:
    • Maharani Gularia of Jaipur constructed the temple in the 19th century.
    • It was destroyed twice in the present century and rebuilt again.
    • At Yamunotri, one can cook rice by packing it in a cloth and dipping it in the hot water of the Tapt Kund.
    • Pilgrims take this cooked rice home as Prasad.
    • Pooja can be offered to Divya Shila near the temple.
  • Surya Kund:
    • There are a number of thermal springs near the temple that flow into numerous pools.
    • The most significant of these is Surya Kund.
  • Yamunotri Weather:
    • In summer, the maximum temperature is 18 degrees Celsius and the minimum is 10 degrees Celsius.
    • The days are pleasantly cool, but the nights are cold.
  • Morning after breakfast, move to Uttarkashi.
  • Check into the hotel upon arrival in Uttarkashi.
  • Visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Uttarkashi.
  • Stay overnight in Uttarkashi.
  • Uttarkashi is home to a number of ashrams and temples.
  • The name of the town reflects its similarity to and location north of the city of Kashi (Varanasi).
  • Similar to Varanasi, the town of Uttarkashi is also situated on the banks of the River Ganga.
  • Vishwanath Temple:
    • Vishwanath Temple is one of the oldest Shiva temples in Northern India.
    • Rebuilt in 1857 by Maharani Khaneti Devi of Tehri State in the ancient architectural style.
    • It is situated at the heart of the town.
    • A heavy iron trident, symbolic of the divine mother, is erected and worshiped from time immemorial at the temple complex.
    • Ganeshji, Sakshi Gopal, and Markandeya Rishi?s small shrines are also part of the temple complex.
    • Akhand Jyoti and Akhand Abhishek, special aarti in the morning and evening, are offered.
    • As per Skanda Purana, Uttarkashi is known as "Saumya Varanasi," the abode of Lord Shiva in Kaliyug, and is counted as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas.
  • Shakti Temple:
    • Right in front of the Vishwanath Temple is the Shakti Temple.
    • It has a large trident (Trishul) of about 6 meters in height and a circumference of 90 cm at the base.
    • Though there are different views about its construction, the upper part appears to be made of iron and the lower part of copper.
    • As per the epics, this Shakti was thrown at the devils by Goddess Durga (Shakti), hence it gets its name.
  • Uttarkashi Weather:
    • Generally hot in summer, with temperatures ranging from 30-35 degrees Celsius, but nights are pleasant.
    • Cold in winters.
  • Early morning departure with a packed breakfast to Gangotri.
  • On the way, take a sacred dip in Garam Kund.
  • Continue the drive to Gangotri via the beautiful Harsil Valley, known for its natural beauty and majestic views of Deodar trees and mountains.
  • Upon arrival at Shree Gangotri, take a holy dip in the sacred river Ganges, also known as Bhagirathi at its origin.
  • Perform Pooja and Darshan, then rest for some time in the lovely surroundings.
  • Later, return to Uttarkashi and stay overnight.
  • Gangotri Temple: The temple was built by Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa in the 18th century and is situated on the right bank of the Bhagirathi.
  • Gangotri Weather: The maximum temperature during summer can reach up to 20°C, while summer nights can get cooler with a minimum temperature of 10°C.
  • Light woolen clothes are recommended when visiting Gangotri during summer.
  • The winter season is very chilly in Gangotri, which will be covered in sheets of snow.
  • Pilgrim centers remain closed throughout winter due to heavy snowfall.
  • Morning after breakfast, travel to Guptkashi via Moolgarh and Lambgoan.
  • On the way, enjoy views of the beautiful Mandakini River at Tilwara.
  • The Mandakini River originates from Kedarnath; drive alongside the river to reach Guptkashi.
  • Visit the Ardh Narishwar Temple in Guptkashi.
  • Check into the hotel upon arrival in Guptkashi.
  • Stay overnight in Guptkashi.
  • Guptkashi: The name Gupt Kashi means "Hidden Benares." According to mythology, when the Pandava brothers were searching for a glimpse of Shiva, Shivji first concealed himself at Guptkashi but later fled further up the valley to Kedarnath, where the Pandavas finally had their wish fulfilled.
  • There are also tangible connections: the Kedarnath pandas (priests) reside in Guptkashi during the winter months. After the Kedarnath temple closes for winter, the image of Kedarnath passes through Gupt Kashi on its way to Ukhimath (across the valley), where it remains for the winter.
  • Guptkashi Weather: Agreeable in summer, with temperatures ranging from 25-30 degrees Celsius; cold in winter.
  • Early morning departure for Kedarnath Dham after breakfast.
  • Enjoy Kedarnath Darshan.
  • Stay overnight at Kedarnath.
  • By Helicopter:
    • In the morning, our driver will drop you off at your pre-booked helipad.
    • You can inform the driver about your arrival time, whether it will be by helicopter or by trek, so that the driver will be there to pick you up.
    • Note: Helicopter ticket is not included in this package.
  • By Trek:
    • In the morning, our driver will transfer you to Sonprayag.
    • You will then take a local jeep to Gaurikund, and your trek to Kedarnath Ji will begin.
    • After Darshan, you will follow the same route and return to Sonprayag.
    • There is a significant parking issue, so the driver will return to another location.
    • If the driver's contact number is not working, you will need to arrange another taxi or wait for your driver.
  • Kedarnath:
    • The Kedarnath shrine, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is a scenic spot situated against the backdrop of the majestic Kedarnath range.
    • Kedar is another name for Lord Shiva.
    • According to legend, the Pandavas, after winning over the Kauravas in the Kurukshetra war, felt guilty for having killed their own brothers and sought the blessings of Lord Shiva for redemption.
    • He eluded them repeatedly, and while fleeing, took refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull.
    • When followed, he dived into the ground, leaving his hump on the surface.
  • Kedarnath Weather:
    • Due to its high elevation, the weather in Kedarnath remains cold for most of the year.
    • Summer is cool and agreeable, with temperatures averaging around 20°C.
    • Light woolen wear is recommended during summer.
    • Winter is severe, with temperatures falling as low as 0°C.
    • During this time, the area experiences snowfall as well.
    • Due to the extreme chilly climatic conditions, this season is usually avoided by tourists.
  • Morning after darshan, return to Guptkashi by trek or helicopter.
  • Stay overnight at the hotel.
  • Morning after breakfast, move to Badrinath.
  • Check in to the hotel upon arrival in Badrinath.
  • Pilgrims can take a bath in the Taptkund and have the Darshan of Badrivishal, followed by Aarti in the evening.
  • Brahmakapal is important for Pinddan Shraddh of ancestors (Pitrus).
  • Other interesting sightseeing spots within three kilometers of Badrinath include:
    • Mana
    • Vyas Gufa
    • Matamoorti Charanpaduka
    • Bhimkund
    • The ?Mukh? of the Saraswati River
  • Stay overnight at Badrinath.
  • Mana Village: Inhabited by an Indo-Mongolian tribe, it is the last Indian village before Tibet.
  • Vasundhara: A magnificent and beautiful waterfall located 5 kilometers from Badrinath, with 2 kilometers being motorable up to Mana.
  • Bhim Pul: On the other side of Mana village, a heavy rock forms a natural bridge over the roaring Saraswati River, presenting a spectacular view of water thundering down through the narrow passage under the rock. It is believed to have been placed there by Bhim, the second eldest among the five Pandava brothers.
  • Vyas Gufa (Cave): Near Mana Village, this rock cave is where Ved Vyas is believed to have composed the Mahabharata and the Pauranic commentaries.
  • Badrinath Weather: The maximum temperature will be around 18°C, while the average minimum is 8°C. Warm and woolen clothes are required for a stay in Badrinath throughout the year.
  • Winter in Badrinath is often accompanied by snowfall, with an average temperature of 5°C. Due to the extremely chilly climatic conditions, this time is usually closed for tourists.
  • After breakfast, drive to Rudraprayag via the following locations:
    • Vishnuprayag
    • Karnprayag (confluence of the Pindari River and the Alaknanda River)
    • Nandprayag (confluence of the Nandakini River and the Alaknanda River)
  • Finally, drop off at Haridwar.
