Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive at Bagdora and Transfer to Phuentsholing
  • Upon arrival, our representative will meet and greet you at the airport.
  • We will then drive towards the Indo-Bhutan border, which will take approximately 3-4 hours to reach the border town.
  • Today's journey will take you through beautiful tea gardens, with lunch provided en route.
  • Upon arrival at the border town, we will take a short walk to enter Bhutan and complete your immigration formalities.
  • At immigration, our guide will assist you in completing all necessary procedures and help with check-in at the hotel.
  • In the evening, you will have time to explore the friendly border area between India and Bhutan.
  • Overnight halt in Phuentsholing.
  • After breakfast, embark on an interesting journey to Thimphu, visiting Kharbandi Gompa en route. This beautiful monastery was founded in 1967 by Royal Grandmother Ashi Phuntsho Choedron.
  • At Kharbandi Gompa, you can see the statues of Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and Guru Rimpoche, along with paintings depicting scenes from the life of Lord Buddha.
  • The monastery garden offers great views of Phuentsholing town and the surrounding plains of West Bengal.
  • The Phuentsholing-Thimphu highway, built in 1961, further stimulated economic activities between India and Bhutan.
  • Continue driving, stopping en route at Gedu University for photos.
  • After a short tea break near Chukha, resume your journey through the small town of Chimakothi.
  • Stop at Chuzom, the confluence of the Paro and Thimphu rivers.
  • Upon arrival in Thimphu, check into the hotel.
  • Thimphu, the capital town of Bhutan, is the center of government, religion, and commerce. It is a unique city with an unusual mixture of modern development and ancient traditions.
  • Situated in western Bhutan, with a population of about 100,000, it is perhaps still the world?s only capital city without a traffic light.
  • In the evening, take an exploratory walk around Farmer's Centenary Market and Kaja Throm.
  • Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu. (Altitude: 2,320m)
  • After breakfast, drive to visit Memorial Chorten, also known as Thimphu Chorten.
  • Afterwards, visit Buddha Point or Buddha Dordenma (Kuensel Phodrang).
  • Later, drive to upper Motithang in Thimphu to visit the Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan's national animal, the Takin.
  • Visit SIMPLY BHUTAN, where you can try your hand at archery, sip traditional butter tea ("Suja"), taste locally brewed hooch ("Ara"), or enjoy a sumptuous traditional Bhutanese lunch along with cultural dance and song performances.
  • After lunch in Thimphu, drive towards Punakha, stopping at Dochu-la Pass (3,088 m / 10,130 ft) along the way.
  • Upon arrival in Punakha, if time permits, quickly visit Punakha Dzong, also known as the Palace of Great Happiness or Bliss.
  • Explore the Punakha city center and embark on a short walking excursion to Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Fertility Temple.
  • Visit the popular Suspension Bridge, which offers stunning views for beautiful selfies and pictures.
  • Optionally, go white river rafting.
  • Halt at Punakha.
  • After breakfast, drive back to Paro, descending from Dochu La.
  • Follow the route back through the dramatic Wang Chhu and Paro Chhu river valleys, crossing through Paro town towards the north end of the valley.
  • En route, visit the viewpoint of Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress in the country.
  • Next, visit Tachog Lhakhang, a temple located across the famous iron bridge built over the meandering Pa Chhu (Paro River).
  • Later in the day, after checking into the hotel, proceed to visit Ta Dzong, originally built as a watchtower, which now houses the National Museum.
  • Then, walk down the trail to visit Rinpung Dzong, meaning "fortress of the heap of jewels," which has a long and fascinating history.
  • In the evening, take a stroll around the interesting city center of Paro.
  • Overnight at the hotel in Paro. (Altitude 2,280m)
  • After breakfast, embark on an excursion to Taktshang Monastery (approximately 5 hours round trip walk):
  • Taktshang Monastery is one of the most famous monasteries in Bhutan, perched on the side of a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley floor.
  • It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery, which is why it is called 'Tiger's Nest'.
  • The hike to the monastery offers a splendid half-day excursion.
  • Later in the afternoon, visit the Tashi Namgay Artisanal Brewery and the Paro Valley Viewpoint.
  • On the return to the hotel, visit the 7th-century Kyichu Lhakhang along the way.
  • You can also opt for a traditional Hot Stone Bath.
  • Overnight stay at the hotel in Paro. (Altitude: 2,280 meters)
  • After breakfast, we will drive towards Chelela Pass, known as the highest motorable road in Bhutan.
  • We will then drive back to Phuentsholing.
  • Upon reaching Phuentsholing, we will check in to the hotel.
  • In the evening, you will have free time to explore Phuentsholing town.
  • Relax during your journey home.
  • After your breakfast, you will be escorted by our guide for the exit formalities.
  • You will be driving towards Bagdora with all your happy memories of Bhutan.
