• Phobjikha Valley - Phobjikha is a bowl-shaped glacial valley on the western slopes of the Black Mountains, bordering the Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park. Due to the large flock of black-necked cranes that winter here, it is one of the most important wildlife preserves in the country. In addition to the cranes, there are also muntjacs (barking deer), wild boars, sambars, serows, Himalayan black bears, leopards, and red foxes in the surrounding hills. The Nakey Chhu drains the marshy valley, eventually flowing into the lower reaches of the Punak Tsang Chhu.   • Tiger's Nest is one of the most famous monasteries in Bhutan, perched on the side of a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley floor.
  • It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery, hence it is called Tiger's Nest.
  • This site has been recognized as a sacred place, visited by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1646, and is now visited by all Bhutanese at least once in their lifetime.
  • On April 19, 1998, a fire severely damaged the main structure of the building, but this Bhutanese jewel has been restored to its original splendor.
