Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Leh - Leisure Day
  • Arrive in Leh.
  • Upon arrival at Kushok Bakula Airport Leh, our representative will meet, greet, assist, and transfer you to your hotel in Leh.
  • The rest of the day is free to acclimatize to the high altitude of Ladakh.
  • In the evening, take a walk to the local bazaar in Leh.
  • Overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.
  • Post breakfast, drive downstream along the Indus River in Leh Kargil.
  • Start sightseeing with the Hall of Fame (closed on Mondays), a museum constructed by the Indian Army, which is worth a visit for every Indian.
  • Proceed to Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, located at an altitude of 3600 meters, approximately 22 kilometers from Leh. This site was constructed in memory of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
  • Enjoy a drive of another 4 kilometers to Magnetic Hill, which defies the laws of gravity.
  • As you move ahead from Magnetic Hill, just before Nimmu Village, visit the famous Confluence of Two Rivers, where the Indus River comes from Tibet (left) and the Zanskar River comes from Zanskar Valley (right). The Zanskar River is known for its famous Chadar Trek.
  • Later, drive back to Leh for an evening visit to Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa, and the local market.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Leh.
  • Post breakfast, we drive to Nubra Valley.
  • The road journey from Leh to Nubra Valley passes over Khardung La, the highest motorable road in the world at 5,602 meters (18,390 feet), located around 39 km from Leh.
  • From the pass, one can see south over the Indus Valley to the seemingly endless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar range, and north to the giants of the Saser massif.
  • Nubra Valley is popularly known as Ldumra, or the Valley of Flowers.
  • It is situated in the north of Ladakh, between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas.
  • The average altitude of the valley is 10,000 feet above sea level.
  • Upon arrival in Nubra, we check in at our camp or hotel.
  • In the evening, we drive to Hunder, where you have the opportunity to ride on a Bactrian camel (double-humped) amidst the sand dunes of this high-altitude desert, with snow-capped mountains on the horizon.
  • Between Hunder and Diskit, you will come across sand dunes beside the road, which, when seen in isolation, could remind you of the sand dunes of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan.
  • On the return, we stop at Diskit, the headquarters town of Nubra Valley.
  • Stroll around the bazaar, observing the shops and local people going about their daily chores.
  • Diskit is famous for its 515-year-old Buddhist monastery, magnificently situated on a hilltop, facing the entire valley.
  • Later, we drive back to the camp for dinner and overnight stay.
  • After an early breakfast, we drive to Turtuk and several other small villages that were brought under Indian control after the 1971 war, when the Indian army pushed the Pakistani soldiers past the mountains towering over the Nubra Valley.
  • Turtuk lies at the extreme corner of the Indian border, making its accessibility a challenge.
  • Due to treacherous roads and sensitive army base camps, permits were not issued to Indian civilians until late 2010.
  • Although the roads are affected by landslides and falling stones, the three-hour drive from Hunder to Turtuk is nothing less than exceptional.
  • Throughout the journey, one is accompanied by the Shyok River and the stunning vistas that define the barrenness characteristic of Ladakh.
  • After visiting Turtuk, we drive back to our camp or hotel in Hunder for an overnight stay.
  • Post breakfast, we drive towards Pangong Tso via Agham and Shyok Valley.
  • Some road patches in certain areas, particularly towards Nubra, are extremely challenging in terms of road conditions; however, the journey is undeniably scenic.
  • After crossing this adventurous section, we continue towards Durbuk and Tangtse for Pangong, passing through several small villages in Changthang.
  • Finally, you will have a stunning view of Pangong Lake, situated at 14,000 feet (4,267 m).
  • This famous blue brackish lake is 5 to 6 kilometers wide and over 133 kilometers long, with half of it lying on the other side of the Indo-China border.
  • One rarely feels so close to nature, and the scenery is unforgettable.
  • Following the success of the film "3 Idiots," this beautiful natural location has attracted more tourists from around the world.
  • Upon arrival, we check in at our camp near Pangong Lake.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.
  • Morning at leisure to explore the beauty of the lake.
  • Later, we drive back to Leh via Changla Pass (5486 Mtrs), en route visiting:
    • Thiksey, an impressive complex rising tier upon tier on a hill above the village.
    • Shey Palace, the ancient capital of Ladakh.
    • 3 Idiots Rancho School.
  • Drive further to Leh and check in at our hotel for the night.
  • Tour concludes.
  • The team thanks you for your patronage.
  • We ensure a punctual transfer to the Domestic Airport.
  • Catch your flight for your onward destination.
  • We hope you had a sweet and memorable experience.
