Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park.

After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park, world famous for its tree climbing lions, elephants, hippos, giraffes, flamingos, leopards and a magnificent bird life. The park is set out on east Africa’s stunning Rift Valley landscape and has varied habitats: ranging from acacia woodlands, water forests, baobab strewn cliffs, hot springs, swamps and the lake where all its animals can be found. Well also visit a hot water spring in Lake Manyara where the water flows through volcanic rock and comes out so hot that it burns to the touch (it is said that the water is hot enough to boil an Egg we dare you to bring one for trial).

Transfer to the endless plains of Serengeti via the pre-historic world heritage site of Olduvai Gorge sometimes referred to as the Cradle of Mankind (not to be mistaken by the cradle of mankind in south Africa). This is where the famous archeologist Dr. Louis Leakey and his wife Mary Leakey discovered the HOMOHABILIS (the earliest members of the human genus). We will take a tour of the site and later proceed into the Serengeti where we will engage in an en-route game drive to our camp in central Serengeti for a much-needed rest dinner and overnight in preparation for the next day.

After breakfast you’ll transfer to the northern part of the Serengeti. Once there you will engage in game driving along the Mara River. If we are lucky, we will get to witness spectacular river crossing by the wildebeest and zebras where they have to out-smart the crocodiles, battle against the strong river currents as well as outrunning the numerous predators that track them. Our accommodation will be situated close to the migration and on some occasions, we will be able to see the herds right outside the lodge

Spend another day in Northern Serengeti for further exploration of its magnificent animals in their raw natural habitats. In the afternoon we will go back to our lodge for a hot lunch and a short rest then leave in again for an evening of further game driving. Mornings and evenings are considered the best times for game driving as animals tend to prefer the coolness present by these times. In the evening after a sunset in the Serengeti, we will make our way to our lodge for an evening of relaxation.

Three full days spent in the northern Serengeti with the herds will drastically increase your chances of seeing the river crossing at least one of the days. Apart from the great wildebeest migration, enjoy seeing other amazing animals such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, hippos as well as the endangered black rhino. As usual a warm meal will be awaiting us at our camp in the evening. We’ll Enjoy another final sunset in northern Serengeti (should you choose) Followed by an evening of leisure at our camp.

Today, we will transfer to central Serengeti for a fantastic day of game driving around the central area. The central part of Serengeti is perfect for game viewing all year round because of its abundance of wildlife due to the presence of food and water throughout the year. After a fantastic day full of wildlife, we will make our way to our lodge for a night of relaxation and unwinding in the evening. We might spend the night in Serengeti or exit the park all together to spend the night in Ngorongoro ready to descend into the crater first thing in the morning.

After an early morning breakfast at our camp, we prepare to descend into the crater for a fantastic day of game viewing. The crater is the 8th wonder of the world and a designated world heritage site, is a collapsed volcano home to more than 30,000 animals including all of Africa’s Big Five amongst which is the critically endangered black rhino. We will also have the optional opportunity of visiting a Maasai Boma (village) should you choose to see how this magnificent tribe lives in a primitive manner. After a fantastic day full of wildlife, you will ascend from the crater and transfer back to our first hotel or campsite for a night of relaxation and unwinding.

Morning transfer into Tarangire National Park The park is famed for having the highest concentration of elephants in the entire world that can be seen among its spectacular baobab trees that are suspected to live for hundreds of years. The park is named after the Tarangire River which is the only source of water for the animals during the dry season, hence attracting lots of wildlife. Its many river circuits game driving loops will give us a chance to see plenty of animals on the river banks in search of water. After experiencing the African wild at its best, you’ll be transferred to your lodge in Arusha for an overnight stay
