The monastery stands on a rocky mountaintop at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers, overlooking the town of Mtskheta, which was formerly the capital of the Kingdom of Iberia. The Jvari church was built on the very edge of a cliff, with its western facade nearly hanging over a precipice, reinforced by a counterforce wall. The temple appears to grow from the mountain, which was clearly the architect's intention. Jvari is one of the best examples of the harmonious relationship between architecture and nature. Enjoy breathtaking views from the church that stands proudly over the city of Mtskheta, overseeing the merging of the two largest rivers in Georgia, the Mtkvari and Aragvi. You will spend about 30 minutes there.
  • 10:30 AM - Pass through the famous souvenir market and continue the tour to the old capital town of Georgia, where Svetitskhoveli Cathedral is located. The current Svetitskhoveli Cathedral was built between 1010 and 1029 by architect Arsukidze, at the invitation of Catholicos Melchizedek I of Georgia. At that time, the king of Georgia was Giorgi I. The original church was built in the 4th century AD during the reign of Mirian III of Kartli (Iberia). Saint Nino, who converted Georgia to Christianity, is said to have chosen the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers as the site for the first Georgian church. A notable reconstruction was carried out at the end of the 14th century after it was destroyed by Tamerlane. The next major renovation occurred in the early 15th century when the current dome was constructed, followed by further renovations in the mid-17th century. The cathedral is surrounded by a defensive wall, built of stone and brick during the reign of King Erekle II (Heraclius) in 1787. Both Jvari Monastery and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral are recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites. You will spend 1 hour in Mtskheta.
  • 12:40 PM - Arrive in the town of Gori. Gori Fortress is a 13th-century castle in Georgia, situated on a hill above the city of Gori in the Shida Kartli region of eastern Georgia. You will visit Joseph Stalin's museum complex, which includes the memorial house where Stalin was born, an exposition building with a tower, and Stalin's personal coach with its interior. You will spend 3 hours in Gori (including a lunch break).
  • 16:00 PM - Transfer to Uplistsikhe.
  • 17:00 PM - Arrive at Uplistsikhe, the oldest rock-hewn town in Georgia, dating from the first millennium BC. Built on a high rocky left bank of the Mtkvari River, it contains various structures from the Early Iron Age to the Late Middle Ages. The complex features dozens of ancient artificial caves and holes, which were used for animal sacrifices during pagan times. During the Hellenistic era (3rd century BC - 1st century BC), Uplistsikhe was one of the most developed centers of Georgia. After the adoption of Christianity as the official religion in the 4th century, the status of Uplistsikhe began to decline. Following the Mongolian invasion, the ancient cave city became a temporary refuge. Due to earthquakes, much of the complex was damaged, but approximately 150 caves still retain their ancient style. One of the best-preserved parts is the tunnel, which in ancient and medieval times was used to connect with the Mtkvari River; today, it serves as an exit. In 2006, by presidential order, Uplistsikhe was designated a cultural site of national importance. The cave complex has been on the tentative list for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage program since 2007.

Vanasthali Jungle resort rooms are good but the restaurant is not proper. It is in the open area with no AC and very little staff and not serving as per the hotel standard.
