Vihigaon Waterfalls, Maharashtra Overview

The Vihigaon Waterfalls or Ashoka Waterfalls is one of the most sought after waterfalls in Maharashtra. Most people visit the waterfalls on their way to Nasik. The waterfall comes to life every monsoon which is the best time to visit the place. Nestled in the woods of the Western Ghats, the height of the waterfall is about 120 ft., draining into a beautiful pool.

Vihigaon Waterfall is the perfect place to visit if you are looking to have a little adventure on the weekend. After the little hike up to the waterfall through the forest, you can indulge in waterfall rappelling which is a popular activity. A fun fact about the place is that a few scenes for the Ashoka movie were shot in this waterfalls.

How to Reach Vihigaon Waterfalls

  • Rail from Mumbai: The closest railway station from Vihigaon is Kasara. So, if you are visiting the waterfalls from Mumbai, you will need to board a train to Kasara and from there you can book a taxi or auto to travel the additional 5 km. This is the easiest way to reach the waterfalls.
  • Road from Mumbai: If you are travelling by car, then it is better to drive in NH3 towards Kasara and after reaching the town you can move towards the Vihigaon waterfalls.
  • Road from Igatpuri: People also tend to visit the Vihigaon Waterfalls when they are in Igatpuri, which takes about 28 minutes if they book a car as Igatpuri is just 12.5km from the falls.

Tips

  • While visiting the waterfalls you need to carry your own food and water as the Adivasi village doesn’t have the facilities.
  • Vihigaon is a great spot for having a family picnic.
