The Luang Prabang Library History & Significance

The Luang Prabang Library was built to provide free and easy access to education for school children. The library works on providing free reading material to kids. They organize library boats, which flow on the Mekong to reach around remote villages. Donors can drop books that would be placed on the boat for distribution. Children pick up whatever they like when the library boat passes through their communities. The boats run based on donations alone. If visitors donate a couple of dollars, they can get a chance to get onboard these boats, teach English to kids on the library boat and also distribute books in the villages.
