Jet D'Eau is a 140 meters high water fountain/water jet that is the most popular tourist attraction in Geneva and one of the world's highest fountains. It can be viewed from Bains park, Saint Pierre Cathedral, and Quai Gustave-Ador. A light show also takes place at the fountain on specific special dates. Nearby attractions include the English Garden (Jardin Anglais) and the Flower Clock (L'Horloge Fleurie).
Built in 1891, the Jet D'Eau has become a symbol of sorts, for Geneva. It is essentially a water jet or a water fountain in which 500 litres of water (per second, mind) are propelled upwards, going up to 140 metres. It is said that you can see this water fountain even by airplane, if you're flying above Geneva. The Jet D'Eau was also the official logo when Geneva hosted the UEFA Championships back in 2008.
