Minnewater park is the perfect place to take a breather and enjoy the scenic beauty. This park is popularly known as the Lake of Love. Located towards the southern end of Bruges, it is joined by a canal system in Bruges.
As you enter Bruges and walk from the train station, you will enter a picturesque landscape. A story runs around the history of the Lake of Love. A young Minna was in love with a neighbouring warrior, Stromberg. Disapproved by her father, Minna escaped into a forest and died in Stromberg’s arms when he finally found her. Hence, the lake was named after Minna and gained the name, “The Lake of Love”.
