Nightlife in Koh Lanta - All You Need to Know

While it may not look it from the outside, the nightlife in Koh Lanta pleasantly surprises tourists. The island is home to a few great bars, host parties, and live music shows every night. In addition, karaoke and kickboxing shows are also part of the nightlife, giving it a rather unique charm of its own. Different parts of the island have their own unique appeal, with varied nightlife experiences on offer.

Nightlife in Ban Saladan

Bars are not plentiful in Ban Saladan, and tourists usually return to their hotels at the end of their days or to the beaches to enjoy a night out.

1. Mary Ann’s Bar

Mary Ann’s Bar is a small but warm and cosy bar with many friendly faces. You can enjoy great tapas and interact with foreigners who’ve settled down on the island.

Timings: 1 PM to 11 PM

2. Racuda Bar


This bar is located near a diving spot, and you can experience the cool sea breeze just outside its entrance. Racuda Bar is one of the best cocktail bars in Koh Lanta, and there are live music performances as well.

Timings: 5 PM till the last customer   

Nightlife in Northwest Koh Lanta

Beaches in the northwest of Koh Lanta are home to the greatest variety of bars and pubs in Koh Lanta. The places here have party nights on different days of the week. Some bars offer quiet nights out, while in others, you can experience wild and vibrant parties.

1. Funky Monkey Bar


With a spacious interior, two pool tables, and a large bar, the Funky Monkey Bar is the island's largest nightclub. Large screen TVs show running sports events, while music varies and ranges from old westerns to Thai. The bar also hosts karaoke competitions.

2. Klapa Klum Beach Club

Located on the beach, this bar has lounge chairs out on the sand for viewing sunsets on the Andaman Sea. The bar is constructed from bamboo and driftwood, with lanterns made from old lighters. Klapa Klum Beach Club hosts parties on some nights, and their Mojito Tom Yum is a must-try.

3. Freedom Bar


Freedom Bar offers a much more relaxed atmosphere compared to other bars on the beach. The hammocks on the beach are a great place to relax and watch whatever game is on show at the bar, while beer is cheap.

Timings: 8 AM to 2 AM

4. Ozone Beach Bar


One of the oldest bars in Koh Lanta, Ozone Beach Bar, hosts a party every Thursday night. This bar has great DJs and great music curation, with parties on the sand stretching late into the night. There are two bars within the compound, one that's open throughout the day and another that opens at night.

Timings: 2 PM to 11.30 PM, open till later on party nights.

5. Irish Embassy


With large screen TVs, wifi, and often a free barbecue, the Irish Embassy is a great place to spend your night. This Irish bar is frequented by diving instructors and their clients and often hosts birthday parties.

Timings: 12 PM to 1 AM

6. Shooters Bar

Shooters Bar is the place to go for a game of pool. The locals who hang around this bar are very competitive players, however, so you might end up losing some money playing them. This bar is on the quieter side, not really being a party place. Happy Hours are from 5 PM to 8 PM.

Nightlife in Southwest Koh Lanta:

Southwest Koh Lanta is home to quieter but classier bars, more expensive than the northern part of the island. Nightlife in this part of Koh Lanta is more relaxed. With the absence of nightclubs, don't expect wild parties in this part of the island. 

1. Blue Moon Bar


The Blue Moon Bar offers great live music and also hosts fire shows on multiple nights. Located on Klong Nin beach, this bar built of wood also serves Thai and Western cuisine.

Timings: 10 AM to 12 AM

2. On The Rocks Bar

Frequented by local divers, On The Rocks Bar is ideal for gathering around the bar and watching the latest sports events on the large screen TV. The bar is one of the busiest bars in the south of Koh Lanta, and you get relaxing views of the beach amidst the lush garden in which the bar is constructed.
Timings: 12 PM to 12 AM

3. Aqua Bar


Aqua Bar is set on stilts right on the beach and offers gorgeous views of sunsets on Kan Tiang Bay. This is one of the few party spots in southern Koh Lanta, and parties carry on until early morning at times.

Timings: 11 Am to 4 AM

Nightlife in East Koh Lanta

The east coast is where the old town is located. This part of Koh Lanta is generally alive during the day, as visitors generally return to their hotels on the west coast at night. However, this part of the island has seen more tourists of late, and with it a growing nightlife.

1. Mango House Bar


Mango House has traditional wooden villas and suites set right on the beach. The resort also has a bar that has quickly become one of the hottest party spots in Koh Lanta's old town. The bar serves great snacks and has excellent DJs at night. It also hosts corporate parties.

Nightlife Events in Koh Lanta

1. Quiz Night

The Irish Embassy Pub hosts a quiz night every Monday, starting from 8 PM. To add spice to an already fun night, participants can win free shots and even a 1500 THB tab at the bar.

2. Sunset Sessions


The Ozone Beach Bar has Sunset Sessions every Monday and Tuesday, with a DJ playing from 5 PM until 12 AM. You can dance and watch the sunset over the Andaman Sea as the DJ works through their playlist.

3. Open Mics and Live Music

The Irish Embassy Pub hosts an open mic session every Wednesday from 8.30 PM. You can go with friends and sing into the night, having the time of your life. Koala Bar has live music every Thursday and Saturday from 6.30 PM to 9.30 PM. Why Not Bar on Kantiang Bay has live music every night and serves affordable food and drinks.

4. Pool Parties


The Pirates Paradise Adventure Resort hosts Koh Lanta’s only pool party every Sunday. The party starts at 2 PM, and there’s also a fire show at 7 PM. The resort also offers free pick-up and drop-off services to non-resident party goers.

Night Markets in Koh Lanta

1. Ban Saladan Market


The night market on Walking Street in Ban Saladan is active every Wednesday evening, from 4 PM until 9 PM. Along with cheap clothing and souvenirs, vendors sell a variety of food items on the streets. You can try a variety of skewered meat and fish, as well as candies and candy floss.

People usually visit Koh Lanta to unwind after partying their lives out in Koh Phi Phi and other parts of Thailand. The relaxed nature of the island is a welcome change from the wild nights in other parts of the country. However, that shouldn’t stop you from spending a few nights out. Visit these bars and enjoy the nightlife Koh Lanta has to offer.
