Why Registration Is Now Mandatory?
The high‑altitude terrain, unpredictable weather, and record pilgrim footfall have prompted the Government of Uttarakhand to make biometric registration compulsory for every visitor to the four Himalayan shrines—Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. The system allows authorities to:- Monitor daily carrying capacity
- Track pilgrims in real time via QR scans
- Provide rapid rescue and medical response when required
