Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Nairobi to Lake Naivasha

We leave Nairobi City early in the morning and head to Lake Naivasha. We make a stop at the East African section of the great rift valley viewpoint. It is a geologic wonder of the world. A fracture on the earths in the earth’s surface. Enjoy views of a stratovolcano, Mount Longonot, drive further past the small Italian catholic church built in 1942 during the second world war, the Italians were prisoners of war and Kenya at that time was still a British colony until 1963. We arrive in time for lunch then later after a brief rest head out for the afternoon's activities. We begin with the boat ride, about one hour in the only freshwater lake in the Kenyan rift valley that is home to hippos and over 400 bird species. Later we go out for a nature walk at the crescent island. You can also do a bike ride as you watch wildlife, you will have a guide with you. Later on, return to the relaxing ambience of your hotel for dinner and overnight.

We Leave the resort early in the morning and head to Lake Nakuru national park. After approximately 5hrs we arrive and start our game drive at this awe-inspiring park. We search for both the black and white rhinos, lions, antelopes, visit the shorelines for the flamingos and pelicans.
The Lake Nakuru’s diverse ecosystem offers a spectacular introduction to the abundance of nature in East Africa.
Dinner and lunch will be at the lodge.

After breakfast we drive to the Masai Mara Game Reserve as you enjoy the scenic views of the Great Rift Valley - Masai Mara game reserve is the northern part of the Serengeti, one of Kenya's most favored game-viewing areas. The reserve covers 700 square miles of magnificent wilderness. It is the Africa of the imagination; endless reaches of acacia-dotted grasslands studded with hazy hills. Afternoon game drive to see the sundowner as you trail the Big 5 i.e. Lions in large prides, Elephants, buffalos, zebras and numerous plain game. Dinner and overnight stay at Camp. Meal plan: Lunch, Dinner.

Full days spent exploring the park in search of the big 5/other predators. Optional hot air balloon safari can be arranged at an extra cost of US$ 450 per person. Dinner and overnight at the Camp. Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephant. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna- lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures.

After a morning breakfast we will head back to Nairobi arriving by early evening. You will either be dropped off at your hotel or at the airport.

Memorable Kenya trip

Sapna Kapur's Trip to Kenya

5 /5

(Written on 11 Jul, 2025)

What's Good: Everything went smooth and was detailed. Communication was flawless. The experience was seamless and well organised. Our guide Ben was fantastic and knowledgable so we feel we made (Read More) a friend in Kenya too. James was superb in helping us plan the trip and with suggestions for stay. All in all it was such a special vacation and I can’t wait to explore more of Africa. People are great ! So warm and friendly and what a truly blessed country with so much nature and wildlife. I would highly recommend Wild Portraits and James and Ben for your travel to Kenya.
What's Not Good: please be careful while entering the country at immigration - make sure your passport is stamped. We had some issue with this. Can’t complain about anything else. It was beyond our expectations.

What's Good: The responsiveness of Christine (person overall responsible for arrangements)and knowledge from Evance (our driver and guide for national parks)about national parks was excellent. (Read More) We stayed and covered Nairobi, Masai, Naivasha and Daini.. All stays and safaris were perfect could not have asked for better.
What's Not Good: We chose Van but we think land cruiser would have been a better option especially for being comfortable in muddy terrains.

Ajith's Trip to Kenya

5 /5

(Written on 03 Mar, 2025)

What's Good: After screening and talking to about 5 travel operators, I decided to go with Nature Romp for an 8 day safari in Kenya. Their rate was competitive and selection of lodges to stay v (Read More)ery good. Initially I was skeptical due to less reviews about Nature Romp in public domain. However when I talked to Yvonne, I understood that theirs is a fairly new company and decided to go with them. We (my daughter and I) opted for a private tour covering Masai Mara, Nakuru and Amboseli. We were received at the airport and the next day Yvonne, Lucy and Maxwell (guide cum driver) welcomed us at the hotel, early morning of the Safari start. We instantly felt at home and from then onwards it was a memorable trip. Our guide Maxwell is an excellent guide. He knew about birds and animals, their behavior and diligent in driving. He was always on time.
What's Not Good: Nothing in particular. Only one stay (at Naivasha) could have been closer to the national park. It was nevertheless a good place but not great for bird photography
