Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Hanoi Arrival

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel (approx. 45 minutes). Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. Located on the banks of the Red River, Hanoi is a cultural and historical gem of Southeast Asia, featuring well-preserved colonial structures, exquisite cuisine, historic temples, and pagodas.

This morning, depart for the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh, the historic figure and father of modern Vietnam. Then visit his wooden ethnic minority-style house, where he resided from 1954 to 1969. Explore the One Pillar Pagoda, an iconic structure founded by King Ly in 1049. Continue to the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university, built in 1070, before heading to West Lake to visit Tran Quoc Pagoda, one of the oldest pagodas in Hanoi, and the Taoist Temple of Quan Thanh.

In the afternoon, choose to visit one of the following museums: Ethnology, History, Army, or National Fine Art Museum. End the day with a walking tour of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, known as the “36 streets,” followed by a traditional Water Puppet Show before returning to the hotel.
Depart from Hanoi to Mai Chau (150 km northwest of Hanoi, approximately 3.5 hours' drive). Travel through picturesque valleys, winding roads, and traditional villages before arriving in the beautiful Mai Chau Valley, surrounded by karst rock formations and rice paddies. After lunch, explore the natural surroundings and visit the extraordinary Mo Luong Cave (also known as Soldier Cave). In the evening, enjoy a traditional Thai music and dance performance.

Embark on a two-hour walk through White Thai villages, where you can experience the daily life of ethnic tribes, interact with locals, and explore the rice fields. Spend the afternoon at leisure, soaking in the stunning surroundings of Mai Chau Valley.

After breakfast depart for the 4 hours drive to Ninh Binh, along with the way please be sure you have your camera ready for when you reach the top of the Mai Chau Valley itself, the views are super. Ninh Binh region is one of the most beautiful parts of Vietnam with its dramatic scenery and historical temples. The rice fields here become other – worldly and the mountains have earned the area the nickname “Dry Ha Long Bay or Ha Long Bay On Land”, a moniker borne out by the limestone karsts which dominate the landscape. After arriving in Tam Coc Town close to Ninh Binh City and have lunch. After lunch, board your private sampan for a boat trip through the Thung Lang Valley, which is off the tourist trail. Pass through cave formations and lotus fields (in the summer) and reach a quaint pagoda before returning on the same route.

Depart for a four-hour drive along the Red River Delta to Ha Long City for an overnight cruise on Ha Long Bay. Enjoy lunch onboard as you cruise past rock formations such as Sail, Dog, and Incense Burner islets. As the sun sets, anchor for the night and savor a delicious dinner. If interested, stop in Thai Binh province, known for its rice production and local sweets.

Wake up early to witness the sunrise over Ha Long Bay and participate in a Tai Chi session on deck. Enjoy breakfast while cruising through breathtaking rocky islands rising from the crystal-clear waters. Listen to the sounds of nature before returning to Ha Long City. Disembark at 1:00 PM and transfer back to Hanoi.
