Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Guwahati - Transfer to Shillong
- Arrive at Guwahati airport.
- Transfer to Shillong ( 100 km / 2 ½ hrs drive).
- En-route stop at the scenic viewpoint of the Umiam lake (the largest manmade lake in Northeast India).
- On arrival in Shillong check in to the hotel.
- After refreshments, explore the local night markets of Shillong.
- Overnight stay at Shillong.
Day 2 Transfer to Cherrapunjee - David Scot Trail Trek
- Drive to Mawphlang Sacred forest ( 35 km / 02 hrs drive).
- Start the trek known as David Scot Trail for 06 hrs.
- Reach Mawladh.
- Then you will be picked up and taken to Cherrapunjee.
- Check in to the hotel.
- Spend the evening at leisure.
- Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3 Explore Cherrapunjee - Trek the Single Decker Bridge
- After breakfast, trek the single Decker Bridge (03 hrs trek).
- Later explore the local sightseeing places of Cherrapunjee.
- Later drive back to the hotel.
- Overnight stay at Cherrapunjee.
Day 4 Trek to Nongriat Village
- After breakfast, trek to Nongriat village, a War-Khasi village situated at the bottom of a deep valley. The trek is about 3 to 4 hours.
- En route meet local Khasi villagers in Mawshamok, Tyrna, Umsohphie, and Nongthymmai.
- See the longest Living Root Bridge, Double Decker Root Bridge, and go for a swim in Natural Swimming Pools.
- In the evening get-together and cultural interaction with the villagers of Nongriat.
- Overnight stay at Cherrapunjee.
Day 5 Trek to Garo Village
- Trek downhill for about 3 / 4 hours to reach the foothills adjacent to the Bangladesh border to Dalia a Garo Village.
- Meet the village head, you will be escorted by him through the village.
- The chief will explain their customs/ traditions and daily life of the Garos. Garos are one of the three tribes of Meghalaya, the Khasis, Garos, and Jaintias.
- Overnight stay at Cherrapunjee.
Day 6 Depart from Guwahati - Tour Ends
- After breakfast drive to Guwahati airport ( 05 hrs drive), for onward destination.

Few places were closed (like Shillong peak, Guwahati Museum, etc) and that could (Read More) have been informed prior to our journey start, since we understood the closure after reaching the points.

First of all, thank you so much for the wonderful holiday planning (Read More). It was truly an amazing experience for us. This was our first trip to the North East, and it has now become one of our most memorable and favorite tourist destinations — all because of you and the Hills Dekho team.
I would especially like to highlight the driver you arranged for us, *Dipu*. He was absolutely exceptional — extremely polite, professional, and caring throughout the journey. More than a driver, he felt like a family member traveling with us. His driving skills were excellent, and we always felt safe and comfortable on the hilly roads. By the end of the trip, it genuinely felt like we had made a new friend in the North East.
The hotels arranged were also fabulous, and everything overall was perfectly managed — truly worth it.
