Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Guwahati – Shillong
Arrive at Guwahati airport or railway station and begin your scenic drive to Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. En route, stop by the breathtaking Umiam Lake — a vast man-made reservoir surrounded by pine-covered hills. On arrival in Shillong, check into your hotel and take in the colonial charm of the city. Known as the “Scotland of the East,” Shillong sits at 1496 metres and is famed for its cool weather, charming British-era architecture, and cascading waterfalls.
Overnight stay in Shillong.
After breakfast, explore the beauty and cultural richness of Shillong. Start with Ward’s Lake, ideal for short garden walks and boating. Visit the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures – a unique seven-storey museum showcasing the art, culture, and lifestyle of Northeast India. Continue to Lady Hydari Park, a Japanese-style landscaped garden blooming with roses and seasonal flowers, with an adjacent mini-zoo. Drive past the 18-hole Golf Course – one of Asia’s largest, nestled among pine groves and rhododendron trees. Visit the State Museum to learn about the traditions of the Khasi, Jaintia, and Garo tribes. Wrap up with a visit to Elephant Falls – a scenic three-tiered cascade surrounded by lush greenery.
Overnight stay in Shillong.
Post breakfast, check out and drive to Cherrapunjee, one of the wettest places on Earth. Also known as Sohra or Churra, Cherrapunjee is perched in the East Khasi Hills and known for its stunning landscapes and cliffs that overlook the plains of Bangladesh. The name itself means “land of oranges.” Explore top sights like the Arwah Cave, Nohkalikai Falls (India’s tallest plunge waterfall), the Mawsmai Cave, Seven Sister Falls, Eco Park, Garden of Caves, and Thangkharang Park. Enjoy the lush scenery and misty trails that make Cherrapunjee a paradise for nature lovers.
Overnight stay in Cherrapunjee.
After breakfast, drive back to Guwahati. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and later visit the famous Kamakhya Temple, located atop Nilachal Hill. This revered temple is dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya, an incarnation of Shakti. As per Hindu mythology, it is believed to be the site where the yoni of Sati fell, making it one of the most important Shakti Peethas in India. The temple's ancient energy and spiritual aura attract devotees from all over the country.
Overnight stay in Guwahati.
Enjoy breakfast and check out from your hotel. You’ll be transferred to Guwahati airport or railway station for your onward journey, carrying unforgettable memories of the hills, waterfalls, culture, and spiritual highlights of Assam and Meghalaya.
