Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 ARRIVE NAIROBI

On arrival at Nairobi International airport, you will be met and transferred to the hotel.
The city has its share of well-planned buildings and architecture.
It is the Garden city of Nairobi. The rest of the city is free at leisure.
Overnight in Nairobi.

Day 2 SAMBURU

After breakfast drive north through rich farming areas and across the Equator to the semi-arid and rugged landscape of Samburu National Reserve (360 km).
Check In at Samburu Sopa lodge.
The lodge is built atop raised ground allowing panoramic views of distant Samburu hills to one side and El Ndonyo Keri on the other.
Dinner and overnight at the Samburu Sopa Lodge or similar.
Overnight in Samburu.

Day 3 SAMBURU

Full day free at leisure.
You can visit Samburu village or can enjoy Bird watching.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner and overnight at the Samburu Sopa Lodge or similar.
Overnight in Samburu.

Day 4 SAMBURU - ABERDARES

After breakfast, drive to the Aberdare Highlands, arriving at the Aberdare Country Club for lunch(220 kms).
After lunch, transfer to Ark in the lodge's own vehicle with overnight bags (main luggage is stored at the Outspan Hotel for collection the following day).
Afternoon at leisure to enjoy an excellent view of animals visiting the waterhole from the observation platforms of the lodge.
Dinner and overnight at The Ark or similar.

Day 5 LAKE NAIVASHA

After an early breakfast drive into the Great Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha, arriving in time for lunch (240 kms).
Afternoon at leisure or choose from a selection of optional excursions, including guided walks with naturalists or boat rides (book and pay locally).
Dinner and overnight at Lake Naivasha.

Day 6 MASAI MARA

After an early breakfast drive to the world-famous Masai Mara Game Reserve, arriving in time for lunch at the lodge (270 kms).
Enjoy a late afternoon game drive in one of the world’s finest game reserves.
Dinner and overnight at Masai Mara.

Day 7 MASAI MARA

An early morning balloon safari over the Mara followed by a bubbly bush breakfast (optional extra), or take an early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the lodge.
Rest of the morning at leisure at the lodge.
After lunch, proceed on a late afternoon game drive.
Dinner and overnight at Masai Mara.

Day 8 MASAI MARA - DEPART TO NAIROBI

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Nairobi airport for your flight back home this morning.

Just went for 8 day safari with James and Wild Portraits Safaris...it was spot o (Read More)n perfect. Reasons 1.Clear communication and replies always comes very quickly on WhatsApp. 2. Very genuine with suggestions and doesn't do things as a job or formality. 3. James is very knowledgeable. 4. The enthusiasm and passion shown by James was just so infectious. 5. The planning of itinerary takes care of all the finer details. 6. They really take care of your focus and they don't try to sell anything you are not interested in. For example we skipped the village visit because we didn't see value in it. 7. Quite flexible and adjusts as things progress.

The entire trip was handled with extreme professionalism by both Janet and our g (Read More)uide Bonnie. We got to see the Big5 within 3 days of our itenary and more on the next days. Janet was very thorough with our itenary and helped us throughout and Bonnie knew all the best spots on all of our game drives. We didn't feel rushed throughout our tour, because it is designed very well to accomodate enough rest. 10/10 recommend

From the very beginning, Christine and Judith from Donwel Tours were highly atte (Read More)ntive to what we were looking to get from our first ever trip to Kenya, and Africa, for that matter. We wanted to cover a lot of ground, and were going from one agency to another before we found Donwel as most agents couldn't quite squeeze everything we wanted into our itinerary. Judith and Christine however made it all possible. Good quality stays everywhere, regular communication through the trip to ensure we were ok and were getting what we wanted. Special shoutout to Teeman, our driver who absolutely fantastic, drove safely and ensured our safety and comfort throughout the trip, regularly coordinating with Christine.
