Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Paro – Paro to Thimphu Tour

Arrive at Paro International Airport, complete immigration formalities and meet your guide. Drive to Thimphu via Chunzom, which is the confluence of the Paro and Thimphu rivers. En route, walk across a suspension bridge to visit the 15th-century Tachog Lhakhang. Continue to Thimphu and check into your hotel. Later, visit an archery match at Changlimithang Stadium, Centenary Farmers’ Market (Thu–Sun), and the Craft Bazaar.

After breakfast, drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass (3140m), enjoying panoramic Himalayan views and a stop at the 108 chortens. Visit Druk Wangyal Lhakhang and enjoy refreshments at the Dochula Cafeteria. En route to Punakha, stop for a traditional lunch at Lobesa village and visit Chhimi Lhakhang. Continue to Punakha Dzong via cantilever bridge and visit the 350m-long suspension bridge. In the evening, visit Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendup Nunnery.

Visit Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten with a scenic 1-hour hike. Afterward, drive to Trongsa via Nobding village, Pele La Pass (3300m), and Chendebji Chorten. Enjoy scenic views and photo stops throughout the journey.

Visit Trongsa Dzong, then drive to Bumthang via Yotong La Pass (3400m). En route, visit the Yathra Weaving Centre in Zugney village. In Bumthang, explore Tamshing Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang, Jambay Lhakhang, and Jakar Dzong. In the evening, enjoy dinner with a local family at a traditional farmhouse.

After breakfast, drive to Phobjikha via Trongsa and Pele La Pass. This serene valley lies within Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park and is home to the endangered black-necked cranes in winter.

After breakfast, hike the Gangtey Nature Trail ending at the Black-Necked Crane Centre. Walk through fields and interact with local villagers. Post-lunch, drive to Thimphu via Nobding village, Wangdue Phodrang, and Dochula Pass. Upon arrival, check in and visit the National Memorial Chorten.

Drive to Paro and start the hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), with a stop at the Viewpoint Café. Visit the monastery, return for lunch at the café, and descend. Then visit Kichu Lhakhang and a local farmhouse to explore traditional Bhutanese lifestyle. In the evening, enjoy a hot stone bath and dinner with the host family.

After breakfast, your guide will transfer you to Paro International Airport for your onward journey.
