Overnight Stay: Munnar
After a hearty breakfast, set out for a full-day sightseeing tour of Munnar. Begin with a visit to Mattupetty Lake and Dam, a charming picnic spot surrounded by tea plantations. Don’t miss the Shikara-style boating experience, which is especially romantic for couples. Continue on to Echo Point, where the natural acoustics are fun and engaging, and Kundala Lake, which is surrounded by lush greenery and offers short boating trips until 4:30 PM. The journey also includes a drive through the endless tea gardens that define Munnar’s landscape. Visit the Munnar Tea Museum and Factory (entry ₹100; closed on Mondays) to learn about the tea-making process. For those interested in adventure, you can opt for activities at either Wonder Valley Adventure Park or Dreamland Adventure Park (entry approx. ₹1000), both offering zip lining, rock climbing, commando nets, and more. Other optional visits include Blossom Park (entry ₹20), an elephant ride (₹400–500), and the Rajamalai–Eravikulam National Park, home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr and the world’s largest moth—the Atlas Moth (entry ₹60). Return to the hotel by evening. Overnight stay in Munnar.
Post breakfast, check out and drive towards Thekkady, located about 125 km away, a journey of approximately 4 hours. The route is filled with captivating views of spice plantations and the rich greenery of the Western Ghats. On reaching Thekkady, check into your hotel and prepare for a blend of nature and culture. Head to the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary for a boat ride on the lake (₹260) where you may spot elephants, bison, and a variety of birds. Visit a local spice garden to learn about Kerala’s famed spices (entry ₹150). In the evening, you may enjoy a traditional Kathakali performance (₹500) or witness a thrilling Kalaripayattu martial arts show (₹250). If you're looking for offbeat experiences, a jeep safari to Gavi is a great wilderness option (₹5500 per couple including food). Unwind later with an Ayurvedic massage—packages start from ₹1500. Overnight stay in Thekkady.
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to Alleppey, the gateway to Kerala’s famed backwaters. Around 12:30 PM, board your private houseboat and begin your serene cruise through the labyrinthine canals and palm-lined lakes. Relish freshly prepared local cuisine with lunch, evening tea, and dinner served on board. Relax on the sundeck and take in the peaceful scenery—far from the noise of cities and close to nature. Watch the sunset, spot birds, and enjoy the calm sway of the water. The houseboat stay includes a private room with attached washroom. Overnight stay on the houseboat in Alleppey.
After breakfast, disembark from the houseboat and head to Cochin. If time permits before your departure, explore some of the cultural gems of the city. Visit the Jewish Synagogue (open 9 AM–12 PM and 3 PM–5 PM, closed Fridays and Saturdays), the Dutch Palace (open 10 AM–5 PM, closed Fridays), and the historic St. Francis Church—famous for housing the original tomb of Vasco da Gama. Stop by to see the iconic Chinese Fishing Nets and take a walk along Fort Kochi Beach, known for its colonial charm. Later, you will be dropped at Cochin Airport or Railway Station for your return journey.
