Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Jodhpur - Jaisalmer
  • Arrive at Jodhpur Airport or Railway Station and drive to Jaisalmer.
  • Upon arrival in Jaisalmer, transfer to your hotel.
  • Jaisalmer, a fairy-tale town in the Thar Desert, was founded about 800 years ago by Rawal Jaisal.
  • Unlike any other city, this desert fortress is one of Rajasthan's most exotic and unusual towns.
  • Jaisalmer, an important ancient trading center due to its strategic location on the camel trade routes, is often described as the "Golden City."
  • After lunch, depart for a city tour of Jaisalmer.
  • Visit the famous havelis (mansions) known for their frescoes.
  • The most elaborate and magnificent of all the Jaisalmer havelis is Patwaon Ki Haveli, built by five Jain brothers between 1800 and 1860.
  • Salim Singh Ki Haveli and Nathmal Ki Haveli are the other two havelis that are open to visitors.
  • Built in 1156 by the Bhatti ruler Jaisal, the fort stands atop the 80-meter high Trikuta Hill.
  • Three walls and 99 bastions surround the fort.
  • Over the centuries, the golden sandstone fortress witnessed many battles between the Bhatti Rajputs, the Mughals, and the Rathores of Jodhpur.
  • Within the fort complex lie beautifully carved Jain temples built between the 12th and 15th centuries.
  • This complex houses priceless ancient manuscripts and other exhibits, including astrological charts and the Jain equivalent of the Christian Shroud of Turin.
  • The afternoon is free for personal exploration or shopping in the colorful and bustling bazaars.
  • Overnight stay at your hotel.
  • After breakfast, depart for a full-day excursion to Gadsisar Lake, a beautiful arched gateway leading to a scenic rainwater lake surrounded by numerous shrines. The lake is an idyllic spot for outings.
  • Lodhurva, the ancient capital of the Bhatti clan, is located 16 kilometers from Jaisalmer. Mostly in ruins, it is visited for its great Jain temple, which features exquisite jail work screens, a grand ceiling, and a magnificent triumphal arch at the entrance.
  • Visit Amar Sagar, where the road from Lodhurva to Jaisalmer passes through a grand artificial reservoir for water, a temple, and a promenade along the bank.
  • Kuldhara Village is one of the most interesting places to visit. It is among the 84 villages inhabited by the rich, hard-working Paliwals. The Paliwals deserted their houses overnight, leaving behind a curse that anyone who removed even a stone from the houses would come to grief and perish. Howling winds now rush through the empty streets and the skeletons of houses exposed to the elements remain as remnants of the village.
  • In the evening, proceed for an excursion to Sam Sand Dunes, located 42 kilometers from Jaisalmer. Sam Sand Dunes is the closest point to witness the vast sandy desert and offers an unforgettable experience of camel rides and sunset viewing.
  • Overnight stay at your hotel or camps.
  • After breakfast, proceed to Jodhpur. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.
  • Jodhpur, known as The Blue City, is an oasis in the arid Thar Desert and the second largest city in Rajasthan. This colorful city, adorned with shades of blue, boasts a rich history and a vibrant present that attracts discerning tourists.
  • After lunch, enjoy sightseeing and visit Mehrangarh Fort. This spectacular fort, made from red sandstone, stands on a steep cliff overlooking the skyline of Jodhpur. The foundations of the fort were laid in 1459, and it now houses a museum with an impressive collection of arms, costumes, paintings, and palanquins.
  • Also visit Jaswant Thada, a marble cenotaph built to commemorate Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. The monument is constructed from intricately carved sheets of marble, which are extremely thin and polished, allowing them to emit a warm glow when sunlight dances across their surface.
  • Explore Sardar Bazaar and Clock Tower markets, where you can find vegetables, spices, Indian sweets, textiles, and silver items. These colorful markets feature tiny shops lining narrow lanes, showcasing wood carvings, wrought iron, lacquer work, silver and ivory ornamentation, and leather handicrafts.
  • Overnight stay at your hotel.
  • After breakfast, check out from the hotel.
  • If time permits, visit the places that were missed the day before.
  • Depart for Jodhpur Airport or Railway Station.
  • Return with unlimited memories.
  • Tour ends.

I used services of TIckets To Trip (TTT) for my recent trip to Jodhpur, Jaisalme (Read More)r & Bikaner. The tour was beautifully planned & executed nicely. Accomodations booked at all the places were good except at Jaisalmer which was okay but not up to my expectations. The vehicle provided was new and the driver provided by the vendor was very polite and experienced driver. Ms. Kajal was instrumental in convincing us to hire services of TTT. I wish TIckets To Trip would extend the quality services to all the clients. I wish them great sucess in serving the tourists.
