Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Varanasi & Transfer to Bodhgaya (Approx. 250 Kms/05 Hrs.)
  • Upon arrival, meet and greet at Varanasi Airport/Railway Station and transfer to Bodhgaya.
  • Bodh Gaya is famous for the Mahabodhi Temple, where Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree.
  • It is now one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, with support from various countries, including Japan and China, in building facilities for Buddhist pilgrims.
  • Throughout the year, pilgrims from India and abroad visit to pay their respects at monasteries, temples, and the remnants of the Bodhi Tree.
  • Upon arrival, check in at the hotel for an overnight stay at Bodhgaya Hotel.
  • In the morning, have breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, check out and proceed for Bodhgaya sightseeing:
    • Mahabodhi Temple: The Mahabodhi Temple serves as the main and most important attraction in Bodh Gaya. It was built in the 7th century, surrounding the Bodhi Tree that Buddha sat under while he attained enlightenment.
    • Great Buddha Statue: This statue of Lord Buddha is the tallest in India and was installed by the XIV Dalai Lama in 1989. It is a meditating Buddha resting on a giant lotus, constructed using intricately carved sandstone and red granite.
    • Bodhi Tree: The Bodhi Tree is the tree that Lord Buddha meditated under before he attained enlightenment. The original Bodhi tree may have been destroyed by many kings, but its direct descendants flourish even today, standing tall at 80 feet.
    • Sujata Kuti: Sujata Kuti is a stupa built in honor of a tribal woman named Sujata, who saved Gautam Buddha?s life by offering him rice pudding after he had starved himself for years in the process of attaining Nirvana and renounced every luxury he had, including food. Sujata Kuti is thus considered religiously important in Buddhist culture.
  • After sightseeing, proceed to Varanasi. Varanasi, also known as Banaras or Kashi, is one of the oldest living cities in the world. Its prominence in Hindu mythology is virtually unparalleled. Mark Twain, the English author and poet, who was enthralled by the legend and sanctity of Banaras, once wrote: ?Banaras is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend, and looks twice as old as all of them put together.? The origins of Varanasi, the home of Lord Shiva and Parvati, are unknown. The Ganges in Varanasi is believed to have the power to wash away the sins of mortals.
  • Upon arrival, check in at the hotel for an overnight stay in Varanasi.
  • Early morning boat ride tour providing a true view of holy Varanasi, where you will witness the morning rituals and special features of the various Ghats along the way, including the burning ghat where the dead are cremated. (Boat Ride at Own Cost)
  • After your boat ride, visit the popular Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Annapurna Temple.
  • After the temple visit, return to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, check out and proceed to Sarnath.
  • Sarnath is a quiet and spiritual town set amidst the densely populated state of Uttar Pradesh. It is a city of historical marvels with numerous Buddhist stupas, museums, excavated ancient sites, and beautiful temples, offering immense wonder and astonishment to tourists due to its mystical and serene setting. Located only 10 kilometers from Varanasi, Sarnath is a popular pilgrimage destination for Buddhists, Jains, and Hindus alike.
  • After Sarnath, proceed to Ayodhya. Ayodhya, located on the banks of the Sarayu River in Uttar Pradesh, is one of the seven sacred cities for Hindus. It plays a critical role in the Hindu epic of Ramayana, as it is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Rama. This religious town is also the birthplace of four of Jainism's 24 Tirthankaras (religious teachers), attracting tourists with its serene ghats. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel for an overnight stay in Ayodhya.
  • Early Morning: Have breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, proceed for Ayodhya sightseeing.
  • Ramjanma Bhoomi: Ramjanma Bhoomi is believed to be the birthplace of the Hindu deity, Lord Ram. According to the Indian epic Ramayana, Ram, Lord Vishnu's seventh manifestation, is said to have grown up along the river Sarayu in Ayodhya. It is a highly revered site for Hindu devotees.
  • Hanuman Garhi: Located in Sai Nagar, Hanuman Garhi is a 10th-century temple dedicated to the Hindu god Hanuman. It is one of the most important temples in Ayodhya, as it is customary to visit Hanuman Garhi before visiting the Ram Temple. It is believed that Lord Hanuman lived at the temple site, guarding Ayodhya.
  • Kanak Bhawan: Kanak Bhawan is situated in the north-eastern corner of Ram Janmabhoomi in Tulsi Nagar. Constructed in 1891, this temple is also known as Sone-ka-Ghar. It is a holy site dedicated to the Hindu deity Lord Rama and his wife, Goddess Sita.
  • Sita Ki Rasoi: Sita Ki Rasoi is believed to be an ancient kitchen used by the goddess Sita herself. Built close to Ram Janmabhoomi, this sacred site is now a temple housing some exhibit vessels.
  • After sightseeing, proceed to Prayagraj. Prayag, or Prayagraj, was the ancient name of the city of Allahabad. "Pra" means "first" and "Yag" means "devotion". Prayag also signifies the confluence of the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati. After the Mughal invasion, Emperor Akbar, impressed by the location, named the city Ilahabas, which means "Abode of God". His grandson, Emperor Shah Jahan, later renamed the city Allahabad.
  • Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. Overnight stay at Prayagraj Hotel.
  • Early Morning: Have breakfast at the hotel.
  • After breakfast, proceed for the Chitrakoot Day Trip.
  • Chitrakoot, a small town situated in the northern Vindhyan range, is located in the districts of Chitrakoot in Uttar Pradesh and Satna in Madhya Pradesh. It holds great importance in Hindu mythology and the epic Ramayana. Legends suggest that Chitrakoot was the place where Lord Rama, his wife Sita, and his brother Lakshmana stayed for eleven and a half of their fourteen years of exile, making it a revered site among pilgrims.
  • Upon arrival, proceed for Chitrakoot sightseeing:
    • Ram Ghat: Ram Ghat is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Chitrakoot. The serene ghat lining the Mandakini River is where Lord Ram, Sita, and Lakshman appeared before the famous poet Tulsidas, who used to sit on the riverside and write the Ram Charitra Manas.
    • Bharat Milap Temple: Bharat Milap Temple is believed to be the location of the meeting of the four brothers during Lord Rama's exile. It is an important temple in Chitrakoot.
    • Janki Kund: Janki Kund is situated along the banks of the Mandakini River, and it is believed that this is where goddess Sita used to bathe during the period of exile.
    • Kamadgiri: Kamadgiri is a forested hill surrounded by multiple Hindu temples and is considered the heart of Chitrakoot. The name is derived from Kamadnath Ji, another name for Lord Rama, meaning "fulfiller of all wishes."
  • After sightseeing, proceed to Prayagraj. Overnight stay at a Prayagraj hotel.
  • In the morning, have breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, check out and proceed for sightseeing in Prayagraj:
    • Triveni Sangam is the junction point of three rivers: the Ganga, the Yamuna, and the Saraswati (a mythical river that is believed to have dried up millennia ago). Both the Ganga and the Yamuna are highly revered in Indian mythology, making the confluence point of these rivers extremely significant religiously.
    • Anand Bhawan is the former residence of the Nehru family, which has now been transformed into a museum showcasing various artifacts and articles from the era of the Indian Independence Movement.
    • Khusro Bagh was built by King Jahangir for his son Khusro. The tombstone of the prince lies in this garden, alongside that of his mother, Shah Begum.
    • Bade Hanuman Mandir is located in the Sangam area of Allahabad. This temple is unique as it was built underground and has a leaning posture that is 20 feet long and 8 feet wide.
  • After sightseeing, proceed to Varanasi. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. Later in the evening, proceed for the Ganga Aarti at the Ghat. Every evening, Ganga Aarti is conducted in three holy cities of India: Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Varanasi. Each city has its own unique vibe and energy. It is said that one should participate in all three Aartis at least once in their lifetime. The Aarti is always performed facing the River Ganga, with many lamps lit during the ceremony, usually circled by priests in a clockwise manner. The Aarti is accompanied by various songs praising the Ganga, and it is believed that the lamps acquire the power of the deity. Overnight stay at the Varanasi hotel.
  • Early morning, have breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed for the temple tour of Varanasi.
  • Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple is situated by the River Assi and was built in the 1900s by the freedom fighter Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. It is dedicated to Lord Rama and Hanuman.
  • Tulsi Manas Mandir is dedicated to Lord Rama and named after the saint poet Tulsi Das. It displays the Shikhara style of architecture and exhibits various inscriptions from the Ram Charit Manas on the walls of the temple.
  • Bharat Mata Mandir is a unique shrine dedicated to our country, Mother India. The temple has no deities, only a relief map of the country carved in marble. The temple was the brainchild of Babu Shiv Prasad Gupta, a freedom fighter. It was built in 1936 and inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi, and has since been the only one in the world dedicated to a country.
  • Durga Temple, located near the Durga Ghat on the bank of the River Ganga, was built in the 18th century. It houses an imposing idol of Goddess Durga and is one of the main temples in Varanasi.

The first person who is related to Yatri, Varanasi met on 20th Oct was Mr Sonu, (Read More)Driver at Varanasi Airport. Almost for the entire day through some hours of the night also he spent his time with us. As more than a driver he is a very good tourist guide. The hotels in which we stayed, from where we had our lunch or other food items all had very good liaison with Mr Sonu. More than the other persons like wheelchair walas, guides, poojaries etc. etc. he keeps very good relationship. The cleanliness in all restaurants is of high order. regularly supplied ingredient in any time food, which is not very palatable to all of us. The food that we had from any hotel for that matter was very good except for Paneer was a regular supplied. Overall the percentage of marks the whole set of people who provided the service was of high rank, say 80-85%. We will remember you throughout and also recommend other known tourist to contact when needed. We all wish the team of yaatri be the best tour operators in your region.

Overall planning was good. but execution needs further improvement. We had sligh (Read More)t hitches here and there with respect to hotel arrangements. The conveyance arranged was fine and the driver was skilled and well mannered, though slightly lacking in punctuality. The tour organisers were very cordial, polite and receptive to our suggestions. One suggestion is for the tour operator to coordinate with the hotels and detail the plans before the guests arrive so that no confusion arises at the reception counter on arrival. Overall I will give a rating of 8/10

The response time and patience from Abhijit and his team are highly commendable. (Read More) He never fail to assure me of the arrangement and decisive in his proposed itinerary. More importantly, he kept to his promises. Understanding my concerns about hotel cleanliness and safety, he has selected the hotels which are truly value for money. I was recommended 3 tour agencies , World Travel Experience is the best.
