Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival at Phuentsholing – Drive to Thimphu
On arrival at Phuentsholing, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative. After completing the permit formalities, begin your scenic drive to Thimphu post lunch. En route, stop at Kharbandi Gompa, a peaceful monastery that offers beautiful views of the Indian plains and surrounding mountains—perfect for photography. As you ascend through the winding mountain roads, enjoy the refreshing landscapes that mark your entry into Bhutan’s serene beauty. Upon reaching Thimphu, Bhutan’s bustling capital and center of commerce, religion, and governance, check into your hotel and unwind. In the evening, you may stroll around the Clock Tower Square, a lively spot filled with cafés, shops, and local charm. You can also explore Kaja Throm, a cultural marketplace with local eateries, recreational spaces, and, occasionally, traditional performances by Bhutanese artists.
Overnight stay in Thimphu.
After breakfast, begin your sightseeing tour with a visit to Buddha Dordenma, one of the largest Buddha statues in the world. Perched on a hilltop in Kuenselphodrang Nature Park, this monumental statue houses 125,000 smaller Buddhas inside its golden frame and offers stunning views of the Thimphu Valley. Descend to visit Devi Panchayan Mandir, a unique Hindu shrine where you can offer prayers to deities including Durga, Ganesh, Surya, Shiva, and Vishnu, and witness a fascinating blend of Bhutanese and Indian architecture. Next, visit the Takin Preserve Centre at Motithang, home to Bhutan’s national animal—the rare and gentle Takin—along with other wildlife like Sambar and Serow. Continue to the Folk Heritage Museum, which offers an authentic glimpse into traditional Bhutanese life and material culture. Then, head to the National Memorial Chorten, a significant spiritual landmark built in honor of the Third Druk Gyalpo and dedicated to world peace. Wrap up the day at the Authentic Bhutanese Crafts Market, a vibrant space to shop for traditional handcrafts and souvenirs.
Overnight stay in Thimphu.
After a relaxed breakfast, depart for Punakha, a town steeped in history and natural beauty. On the way, stop at the spectacular Dochula Pass, located at 3,100 meters. With its 108 memorial chortens and panoramic views of the Himalayas, it is one of Bhutan’s most iconic scenic spots—especially stunning on clear winter mornings. In Punakha, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, also known as the "Palace of Great Happiness", located at the confluence of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. This architectural masterpiece is Bhutan’s second-oldest and second-largest fortress. Next, walk across the Punakha Suspension Bridge, the second-longest in Bhutan, adorned with colorful prayer flags and offering beautiful views of the river valley. Later, enjoy a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang, the Fertility Temple, through the picturesque village of Mesina—believed to bless couples seeking children.
Overnight stay in Punakha.
Post breakfast, begin your drive to Paro, retracing the mountain roads via Dochula Pass. En route, stop to admire the ancient Simtokha Dzong, Bhutan’s oldest fortress built in 1629, and capture some memorable photos. Continue your drive along the river and lush hills until you reach Paro. Stop at Tachog Lhakhang, the ‘Temple of the Excellent Horse’, built by Bhutan’s legendary iron bridge builder, Thangtong Gyalpo. As you enter Paro, visit the Paro Airport Viewpoint to watch planes navigating Bhutan’s dramatic landscape—an awe-inspiring sight. Spend your evening at leisure strolling through Paro town’s charming streets and cafés.
Overnight stay in Paro.
After breakfast, prepare for the highlight of your trip—a hike to Taktsang Lhakhang (Tiger’s Nest Monastery), Bhutan’s most sacred site. Perched 900 meters above the Paro Valley on a sheer cliff, this monastery is both spiritually significant and visually stunning. No Bhutan trip is complete without visiting this iconic landmark. After your descent, visit the National Museum, housed in a historic watchtower that preserves a vast collection of Bhutanese artifacts—from traditional clothing and weaponry to daily life tools. Conclude with a visit to Rinpung Dzong, meaning “Fortress on a Heap of Jewels”, an outstanding example of Bhutanese architecture.
Overnight stay in Paro.
After breakfast, drive back to Phuentsholing. Our representatives will assist you with your exit formalities. Bid farewell to the Land of the Thunder Dragon with memories that will last a lifetime.
Tour ends with beautiful memories of Bhutan.
