Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Chennai

On arrival at Chennai, you will meet our representative.
Transfer to the hotel and check in.
In the afternoon, proceed for half-day sightseeing in Chennai.
Visit National Art Gallery, Fort Museum, and San Thome Cathedral, and drive past Marina Beach.
Return to the hotel.
Overnight stay at Chennai.

Day 2 Chennai to Kanchipuram

After breakfast, leave for Kanchipuram.
On arrival, check in to the hotel.
Visit Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary, Kanchi Kailasanathar Temple, Varadaraja Temple
The evening is at leisure.
Overnight stay at the hotel in Kanchipuram.

Day 3 Kanchipuram to Mahabalipuram

Drive to Mahabalipuram.
En-route visit Dakshina Chitra.
On arrival in Mahabalipuram, check in to the resort.
In the afternoon, proceed for sightseeing.
Visit Shore Temple, Five Rathas, Arjuna’s Penance, and Tiger Cave.
Spend the rest of the evening at leisure on the beach.
Overnight stay at Mahabalipuram.

Day 4 Mahabalipuram to Pondicherry

After breakfast, drive to Pondicherry.
On arrival at Pondicherry, check-in at the hotel.
Later, proceed sightseeing.
Visit Auroville, Aurobindo Ashram, Government Museum, and the beach that runs along the city.
Return to the hotel.
Overnight stay at Pondicherry.

Day 5 Pondicherry to Kumbakonam

After breakfast, proceed to Chidambaram
After darshan, proceed to Vaitheeswaram.
Visit Vaitheeswaran Koil (Chevaai), Thiruvengadu, Keezha Perumpallam, Thirunallar (Saneeswaran).
On arrival, check-in at the hotel.
Overnight stay at Kumbakonam.

Day 6 Kumbakonam to Thanjavur

After breakfast, visit Navagraha Temples, Thirunageswaram (Ragu), Uppliappan (Perumal) Alangangudi (Guru), Suriyanar Kovil (Sun), and Swamimali.
Return to the hotel.
After lunch, check out from the hotel in Kumbakonam.
Transfer to Thanjavur.
Visit Kanjanur (Sukran), and Thanjavur Big Temple (Brigadeeswar Temple).
On arrival check in to the hotel in Thanjavur.
Overnight stay at Thanjavur.

Day 7 Thanjavur to Tiruchi

After breakfast, drive to Tiruchi.
On arrival at Tiruchi, check in to the hotel.
Later, visit Srirangam temple and Rock fort temple.
If time permits explore some rarely visited ancient sites near Tiruchi such as Moovar Koil Temple at Kodumbalur, ancient cave temples of the Jains at Sittannavasal, and Pudukottai.
Return to the hotel.
Overnight stay at Tiruchi.

Day 8 Tiruchi to Madurai

After breakfast, proceed for the day excursion to Karaikudi and then drive to Madurai.
At Karaikudi, visit its fortress-like homes, and temples. the palaces and mansions.
Afterwards, drive to Madurai.
On arrival at Madurai, check in to the hotel.
Overnight stay at Madurai.

Day 9 Departure

After breakfast, check out of the hotel.
Transfer to the airport/railway station for your onward journey back home.

Accommodation on a twin-sharing basis.
Transfers and sightseeing as per the itinerary.
Daily breakfast

The trip was organized pretty well. Gurukumar provided a detailed itinerary for (Read More)the whole trip, making sure we did not miss any of the important attractions apart from the ones we had shortlisted. The time slot allotted to each attraction was justified as it needed that much time to explore the attraction. Hotels provided were quite decent and met our expectations. Vehicle provided was better than what was promised to us.

The only negative thing of the trip was the driver. He was not very communicativ (Read More)e - nor did he share any background about the place we are going to visit. Through out the duration of the trip he hardly spoke a few sentences. So you can imagine traveling in a car with a person who is non communicative. So this was a big let down - it seemed we were travelling in a driverless vehicle. Another let down in this trip was - most of the places had all information, boards and instructions in Tamil language. Being from non-Tamil background, it felt we were illiterate trying to figure out things on our own. This is something Tamil Nadu Tourist Deptt needs to pay attention to if they want to attract more visitors from outside Tamil Nadu.
