Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Dehradun/Rishikesh/Haridwar – Barkot (189 km / Approx. 8 hours’ drive)
Pick up from Haridwar/Dehradun/Rishikesh and drive to Barkot. Check into the hotel upon arrival in Barkot. Overnight stay at Barkot.

Barkot Weather: Generally pleasant in summer, with 25–30°C. In winter, the days are pleasantly cool, but the nights are cold, with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 5°C.
Early morning after breakfast, drive to Jankichatti / Phoolchatti and start the trek to Yamunotri (4 km) (either by walk, horse, or doli at own cost). After taking a bath in Jamunabai Kund's warm water and having Darshan of "Yamunaji," return to Jankichatti by trek. Later, drive back to Barkot after check-out from the hotel. Overnight stay at Barkot.

Yamunotri Temple: Maharani Gularia of Jaipur built the temple in the 19th century. It was destroyed twice in the present century and rebuilt again.

At Yamunotri: One can cook rice by packing it in a cloth and dipping it in the hot water of the Taptkund. Pilgrims take this cooked rice home as "Prasad." Near the temple, Pooja can be offered to Divya Shila.

Surya Kund: There are several thermal springs near the temple, which flow into numerous pools. The most important of these is Surya Kund.

Divya Shila: A rock pillar worshipped before entering the Yamunotri Temple.
Yamunotri Weather: In summer, the maximum temperature is 18°C, and the minimum is 10°C. The days are pleasantly cool, but the nights are cold.
Morning after breakfast, drive to Uttarkashi. Check into the hotel upon arrival in Uttarkashi. Visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Uttarkashi. Overnight stay at Uttarkashi.

Uttarkashi: It is home to several ashrams and temples. The town's name reflects its similarity to and location (north of) the city of Kashi (Varanasi). Like Varanasi, the town of Uttarkashi is also situated on the banks of River Ganga.
Early morning, drive to Gangotri, and en route to Gangnani, take a holy dip in Garam Kund. Further, drive to Gangotri.

On arrival at Shree Gangotri, take a holy dip in the sacred Ganges, also called Bhagirathi at its origin. Perform Pooja and Darshan, then relax in the lovely surroundings. Later, drive back to Uttarkashi. Overnight stay at Uttarkashi.

Gangotri Temple: The temple, constructed by Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa in the 18th century, is situated on the right bank of the Bhagirathi River.

Gangotri Weather: The maximum temperature during summer can go up to 20°C. Summer nights can get cooler with a minimum temperature of 10°C. Light woolen clothes are required while visiting Gangotri during summer. Winter is very chilly in Gangotri, with heavy snowfall covering the region. Pilgrim centers remain closed throughout winter due to snow.
The morning after breakfast, drive to Guptkashi via Moolgarh and Lambgaon. En route, enjoy the view of the beautiful Mandakini River at Tilwara. The Mandakini River originates from Kedarnath. Drive alongside the river to reach Guptkashi. Visit the Ardh Narishwar Temple in Guptkashi. Check into the hotel upon arrival in Guptkashi. Overnight stay at Guptkashi.

Guptkashi: The name Guptkashi means "Hidden Benares." Mythology describes how when the Pandava brothers were searching for a glimpse of Shiva, Shivji first concealed himself at Guptkashi but fled further up the valley to Kedarnath. The Kedarnath pandas (priests) live in Guptkashi during the winter months. After the Kedarnath temple closes for winter, the image of Kedarnath passes through Guptkashi on its way to Ukhimath, where it stays for the winter.

Guptkashi Weather: Pleasant in summer, with temperatures ranging from 25°C to 30°C. Winters are cold.
Morning after breakfast, proceed to Kedarnath. Enjoy Pooja and Darshan at Kedarnath. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

By Trek: Morning, our driver will drop you at Sonprayag. From there, take a local jeep to Gaurikund, and then your trek starts for Kedarnathji. After Darshan, follow the same route back to Sonprayag. Due to parking issues, the driver may park at another location. If the driver’s contact number is unreachable, guests may need to arrange for another taxi or wait for the driver.

Kedarnath: The Kedarnath shrine, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is a scenic spot against the majestic Kedarnath range. Kedar is another name for Lord Shiva. According to legend, the Pandavas sought blessings from Lord Shiva for redemption after the Kurukshetra war.

Kedarnath Weather: Due to its high altitude, the weather in Kedarnath remains cold most of the year. Summer is cool and pleasant, with temperatures around 20°C. Light woolen wear is recommended. Winter is severe, with temperatures falling as low as 0°C and heavy snowfall.
The morning after breakfast, proceed for Guptkashi by trek. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Guptkashi.
The morning after breakfast, drive to Badrinath. Check into the hotel upon arrival in Badrinath. Pilgrims can take a bath in the Taptkund and have Darshan of Badrivishal. Attend the evening Aarti. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Badrinath.
Morning drive to Haridwar. En route, visit the confluence of the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda Rivers at Devprayag.

Hotel selections were impressive: Hotel Sea View at Kanyakumari offered breathtaking sunrise views and delicious food. Hotel Germanus in Madurai, Hotel Soma Palmshore in Kovalam, and Hotel Taika in Rameshwaram provided pleasant stays with good food and courteous staff. The houseboat experience was outstanding, with mouth-watering local cuisine, including an unforgettable fish fry. However, hot water for bathing was not available. Some valuable tips for future travelers: verify temple timings and dress code regulations in advance to optimize your itinerary. Ladies can find lovely, affordable sarees and dress materials. Engaging local drivers or guides can also enhance your experience. Mr. George and Welgreen Kerala Holidays deserve 100% marks for crafting an unforgettable trip with thoughtful hotel choices and a well-planned itinerary. Had a great vacation and thanks to Rishi and team for arranging it. the itinerary covered all the good places and hotels was good as well. Special mention to our driver dada (Venkatesh) who really too (Read More)k care of our trip. Rishi was very helpful from the beginning and till the end of the trip. Hope to have more collaboration in 2025. Only one disappointment was Hotel Lake View which wasn't up to mark. It lacked basic amenities and is quite money oriented.
