Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival at Njp/Bagdogra Airport (IXB) - Transfer to Phuentsholing
  • The distance between NJP/Bagdora Airport (IXB) and Phuentsholing is 170 km and will be covered in approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes.
  • On arrival at New Jalpaiguri Junction Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport (IXB), you will be greeted with smiling faces and transferred to Phuentsholing, the gateway to Bhutan by road from India.
  • Upon reaching Phuentsholing, check in at the hotel and spend the rest of the night at leisure.
  • Overnight stay at Phuentsholing.
  • The distance between Phuentsholing and Thimphu is 175 km and would be covered in approximately 6 hours.
  • After breakfast, complete the immigration formalities and transfer to Thimphu (7,710 ft.), the capital city of Bhutan. Upon reaching Thimphu, check in at the hotel and spend the rest of the night at leisure. Overnight stay in Thimphu.
  • Phuentsholing Sightseeing:

  • Chelela Pass
  • Chele La Pass, at an elevation of 3,988 meters, is considered one of the highest motorable passes in Bhutan. About an hour's drive along a thickly forested road leads to this pass, a botanical paradise. The pass provides stunning views of the sacred mountains Jomolhari and Jichu Drake, and is marked by hundreds of prayer flags fluttering in the wind. Here, visitors can see cascades of wild roses, purple and yellow primulas, and swathes of deep blue iris covering the forest floor. The top of the pass blooms with rhododendrons in a variety of colors: pale pink, deep pink, burnt orange, mauve, white, and scarlet.
  • Haa Valley
  • Start the day early with a drive to Haa via Chele-La Pass. Four kilometers away at Bondey Village, the road to Haa diverts to the right and ascends towards Chele-La Pass. After driving through blue pine and rhododendron forests for 45 kilometers, you will reach Chele-La Pass (4,200 meters). From this point, one can enjoy a superb view of Mt. Chomolhari and Jichu Drakey. This is a great place to walk around for a few minutes and enjoy the view. Continue the drive to Haa, descending for another 22 kilometers (under an hour's drive), finally reaching Haa. The Haa Dzong is currently occupied by the military, but the view from outside is stunning. After a picnic lunch, visit the famous monastery of Lhakhang Karpo (White Temple), followed by a visit to Lhakhang Nagpo (Black Temple).
  • The distance between Paro and Phuentsholing is 155 km and will be covered in approximately 5:30 hours.
  • Enjoy a delicious breakfast and get picked up from the hotel for the hike to Tiger's Nest. After completing the hike, you will transfer to Phuentsholing. Upon reaching, check in at the hotel and spend the rest of the night at leisure. Overnight stay in Phuentsholing.
  • Hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's Nest):
  • It is one of the most famous monasteries in Bhutan, perched on the side of a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley floor. It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery, which is why it is called "Tiger's Nest." This site has been recognized as a sacred place and was visited by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1646. It is now visited by all Bhutanese at least once in their lifetime. On April 19, 1998, a fire severely damaged the main structure of the building, but this Bhutanese jewel has been restored to its original splendor. Guests will have ponies available for hire to trek to this monastery.
  • The distance between Phuentsholing and Bagdogra Airport is 160 km and will be covered in approximately 4 hours.
  • Enjoy a delicious breakfast before being picked up from the hotel for transfer to Bagdogra Airport.

Other Details

Permit for Bhutan:
  • Indian nationals do not require a visa for Bhutan. A permit will be issued at the entry point upon presentation of a passport or Voter ID and four passport-sized photographs for adults. For children, documents required include a birth certificate and four passport-sized photographs. Please note that the Phuentsholling Immigration office remains closed on government holidays in Bhutan.
Restricted Area Permit for Punakha / Wangdue:
  • A Restricted Area Permit is required to visit Punakha / Wangdue from the Home Ministry of Bhutan. There is no charge for this permit. Please bring two passport-sized photographs and a Voter ID card or passport for each person, including children. This special permit is issued only after a guest has entered Bhutan.
NOTE:
  • The hotels mentioned above will be confirmed based on room availability. Otherwise, we will confirm a similar category.
  • This package is valid for Indian nationals (a high season surcharge will apply during festivals and peak season).

Child Policy:
  • Hotels are very strict with their child policy. Please carry proof of age to present when requested.

DON'TS:
  • Do not carry Indian Rs. 500/- as it is illegal.
  • Do not bring any plants or agricultural products out of Bhutan as it is illegal.
  • Credit cards are accepted in selected establishments in Bhutan.
Important:
  • Check-in is at 12:00 hrs and check-out is at 11:00 hrs.
  • Guests should remain calm with the drivers, as they may not be tourism-educated and come from different remote villages.
  • Upon arrival, guests will be provided with local contact numbers of our executive, who will handle the entire operation.
  • Please inform your guests to maintain the timing for sightseeing and transfers as advised by our executive.
  • The category of rooms in the packages typically includes deluxe or super deluxe rooms.
  • For extra adults in the room, we will provide an extra bed (wherever possible), but some hotels only provide a roll-out bed and do not have provisions for an extra bed.
  • The operator reserves the right to rearrange the itinerary to suit hotel availability without changing the total number of days in each destination and without compromising any services.
