Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 Nairobi – Lake Naivasha National Park
You'll be picked up from the Nairobi city center and depart for Lake Naivasha National Park. On the way, you'll stop at the Rift Valley escarpment viewpoint, which offers stunning views. Lake Naivasha, the highest and most beautiful of the Rift Valley lakes, is a popular area for bird watching, with over 400 species. Since the water is too cold for crocodiles, you will spot numerous hippos. An optional boat ride can be organized at an additional cost.
You will also visit Crescent Island, a sanctuary for herbivores like giraffes, zebras, impalas, and hippos. Crescent Island is perfect for nature photography, with its scenic views of animals, birds, and the sunset reflecting on the lake. Arrive at Lake Naivasha in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive to spot the park's diverse wildlife. In the evening, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Lake Naivasha Country Club.
Day 2 Lake Naivasha – Amboseli National Park
After an early morning drive, you will head towards Amboseli National Park. Upon arrival, you will check into your accommodation and have lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a game drive through Amboseli National Park, which is known for its vast open plains, acacia woodland, and volcanic hills.
The park is famous for large herds of elephants and provides stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro across the Kenya-Tanzania border. Additionally, the park is home to over 600 species of birds, making it a birdwatcher's paradise. Keep your camera ready to capture the park's diverse wildlife against the backdrop of the majestic Kilimanjaro. Enjoy your evening with dinner and an overnight stay at Amboseli Sentrim Camp
Day 3 Full Day Exploring Amboseli National Park
Rise early for incredible views of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds cover the summit. After breakfast, enjoy a full-day game drive through Amboseli National Park with a packed lunch provided. You may choose to visit a Maasai village (optional, at an extra cost) to experience the rich culture of the Maasai people through their traditional songs, dances, and daily rituals.
Amboseli is one of the best places in Africa to experience elephants up close, as they freely roam and bathe in the park's swamps. The day will be filled with unforgettable wildlife sightings, especially of elephants, along with other animals that thrive in Amboseli’s unique ecosystem. You will return to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4 Amboseli National Park – Tsavo West National Park
Start your day with an early morning game drive in Amboseli and breakfast at the lodge. After checking out, you will embark on a four-hour drive to Tsavo West National Park, enjoying game viewing. Tsavo West is known for its dramatic landscapes and is home to red elephants due to the iron-rich soil they cover themselves with.
Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and have lunch. In the afternoon, explore the park on a game drive. Tsavo West National Park is famous for its unique attractions, like Mzima Springs, where crystal-clear water emerges from lava rock, and the Shetani Lava Flows. It’s also one of Kenya’s oldest national parks, offering an excellent opportunity to witness its abundant wildlife and stunning scenery. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Severin Safari Camp.
Day 5 Tsavo West National Park – Tsavo East National Park
After breakfast, check out from your lodge and drive to Tsavo East National Park for about two hours. This park is home to the famous red elephants and is known for its vast wilderness and rich biodiversity. Game viewing will be part of the journey to your accommodation, and you will have a chance to spot various wildlife.
Upon arrival, check into your lodge, have lunch, and relax before an afternoon game drive. Tsavo East is one of the largest parks in Kenya, covering 13,747 square kilometers. Its sparse vegetation makes spotting animals like lions, cheetahs, and elephants easier. Tsavo East is renowned for its mane-less lions and large herds of red-dust-covered elephants. Return to Ashnil Aruba Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6 Full Day Exploring Tsavo East
Enjoy breakfast and a morning game drive in Tsavo East National Park. This is the perfect opportunity to explore the park’s unique ecosystem and view its diverse wildlife. Afterward, return to the lodge for lunch and some time to relax. In the afternoon, venture out on another game drive and experience the magic of the African wilderness. A sundowner can be arranged for you, allowing you to enjoy a breathtaking African sunset while sipping on your favorite drink, making for a perfect end to your safari experience. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the camp.
Day 7 Return to Nairobi
After breakfast at the camp, you will check out and depart for Nairobi. You can travel via road or take the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) at an additional cost. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be dropped off at your hotel, pickup location, or the airport, concluding your safari adventure.

From the very beginning, Christine and Judith from Donwel Tours were highly atte (Read More)ntive to what we were looking to get from our first ever trip to Kenya, and Africa, for that matter. We wanted to cover a lot of ground, and were going from one agency to another before we found Donwel as most agents couldn't quite squeeze everything we wanted into our itinerary. Judith and Christine however made it all possible. Good quality stays everywhere, regular communication through the trip to ensure we were ok and were getting what we wanted. Special shoutout to Teeman, our driver who absolutely fantastic, drove safely and ensured our safety and comfort throughout the trip, regularly coordinating with Christine. This is an excellent team and we would highly recommend their services.
Everything was perfect.

I reached out to Wild Portraits via a safari service website that featured numer (Read More)ous tour operators. Among the competition, James stood out due to his exceptional patience, politeness, and genuine curiosity displayed during our initial phone calls.
James swiftly emerged as the singular operator I wished to proceed with, and here’s why:
- Having substantial on-ground experience from spending extensive time on the safaris himself, he adeptly crafted a honeymoon package that perfectly suited my wife and me.
- He adeptly navigated our budget flexibilities and constraints to arrange an impressive array of delightful lodges and activities, focusing on maximising our day-to-day adventures, ensuring each day on safari and at the lodges offered a unique experience.
- A skilled photographer himself, James's comprehensive knowledge of various reserves and animal behaviours provided him with a distinct advantage in predicting animal locations and optimal times for photography, whether capturing sunrises, sunsets, or other moments.
- Our priority was to maximise game time and reserve experiences. James made certain our vehicle was ready, complete with packed hot breakfast boxes, for a prompt 6 AM departure every morning of the trip.
- Remarkably patient, he addressed all my queries, irrespective of whether they seemed 'silly' or insightful—from 'what to wear' at safaris, potential places to explore, to the animals we might encounter.
In summary, my wife and I enjoyed an extraordinary experience in Kenya, with Wild Portraits Safaris significantly enhancing the quality of that journey. We are eagerly anticipating more safaris and look forward to embarking on them with James and his team!
