Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Da Nang - Transfer to Hoi An
Welcome to Da Nang.
  • We will meet you upon your arrival at Da Nang’s airport and take you to Cham Museum, containing the world's largest collection of Champa artworks and sculptures. Built-in 1915, the museum displays an intensive and diverse collection of Champa sculptures dating from the 7th to 15th centuries.
  • Afterwards, we will depart Da Nang for a scenic drive to Hoi An (lunch stop en route). Previously known as Faifo, Hoi An was an ancient port town and is now designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.
  • Overnight in Hoi An.
  • In the morning, visit My Son Sanctuary, a centre for spirituality and worship during the reign of the Champa Kingdom. Explore the elaborate remains of these impressive tower temples.
  • Spend the afternoon touring Hoi An - one of the best places to discover genuine Vietnamese architecture.
  • Stroll through the narrow cobblestone streets of the Old Quarter and see ancient merchant houses.
  • Then visit the Japanese-covered bridge and a lantern workshop.
  • Overnight in Hoi An.
  • You are free in the morning to relax or explore the town on your own (however, we suggest taking a cyclo ride to the riverfront area and enjoying a traditional Vietnamese coffee).
  • Drive towards the north to Hue in the afternoon.
  • We will go through Hai Van Pass on the way. It is the highest pass in the country and is considered the dividing line between the climate zones of the north and the south of Vietnam. Stop to admire the spectacular views.
  • There are more photo stops and a visit to a fishing village near Lang Co Beach.
  • Arrive in Hue in the late afternoon.
  • Overnight in Hue.
  • Cruise down the Perfume River in the morning to explore Dinh Market, where they make paper mache, and then visit the iconic Thien Mu Pagoda (Pagoda of the Celestial Lady).
  • This elegant seven-tiered octagonal tower is one of the oldest pagodas. Built-in 1601, it is Hue’s most widely recognizable monument and one of the prettiest religious buildings in the country.
  • After the cruise trip, we will visit a local family and enjoy some of the local dishes with them for lunch.
  • Next, explore some small villages where they produce the trademark Vietnamese cocoa hats and incense.
  • We will also visit “Phuong Duc”, where bronze products are made. Although nowadays the place is not as active as in the past, it is still a wonderful example of a traditional Hue handicraft village.
  • Later in the afternoon, pay a visit to the Tomb of Tu Duc. Being the longest-reigning Vietnamese emperor, Tu Duc designed and built this elegant tomb to use as a retreat for meditation, reading and theatre performances. It is one of the most beautiful works of Nguyen Dynasty Royal architecture and lies on a boundless pine forest with mounts and lakes.
  • Return to Hue afterwards and tour the Imperial Citadel, a vast 1,000-acre complex built in the 1800s. It was modelled after the Forbidden City in Beijing, with a 6-mile wall and surrounding moat. Although it was destroyed during the war, today, you can still see the monuments of the Nguyen Dynasty in the 19th century.
  • Then visit Flag Tower and the wonderful Ngo Mon Gate, one of the ten entrances to the complex.
  • In the spacious courtyard area, we can see Dien Tho Palace (the Palace of Supreme Harmony) and Thai Hoa Palace(throne hall), where the Emperor would meet foreign rulers and other high-ranking dignitaries.
  • Afterwards, we will explore the heart of this Imperial City - “Tu Cam Thanh” (Forbidden Purple City) - where only members of the royal family, the Emperor’s concubines, and trusted senior mandarins were allowed to be inside.
  • This day’s sightseeing tour ends in the afternoon.
  • Free time before transferring to Hue’s airport for your departure flight.
  • Tour ends.

What's Good: Hassle free booking, personalized trip itinerary We were quite apprehensive about the trip, but it worked out much better than our expectations. Special thanks to Harry for allayi (Read More)ng our fears and going out of his way to make the trip smooth and hassle free. Good vehicles, polite and knowledgeable drivers. Well planned sightseeing areas. Good hotels with hygienic rooms and decent buffet breakfast. Overall decent and safe stay. Worth the price.
What's Not Good: Being clubbed with a rowdy group of men for an island boat trip. But I guess that wasn't in control of the trip planners. Getting an uncomfortable mini bus for Pattaya to Bangkok journey with ineffective cooling

What's Not Good: The hotels were a little old but all the hotels, beach and shopping area was walking distance from them so it's ok.
