4 Days Lake Naivasha Masai Mara Safari

We leave Amboseli early in the morning and head towards Lake Naivasha. Along the way, we stop at the East African section of the Great Rift Valley viewpoint — a geologic wonder showcasing a dramatic fracture on the earth’s surface. You’ll enjoy spectacular views of Mount Longonot, a stratovolcano with an 8x12 km caldera that’s quite a sight to behold. Driving further, we pass the small Italian Catholic Church, built in 1942 during World War II when Italian prisoners of war were stationed here (Kenya was still a British colony until 1963).

We arrive at Lake Naivasha in time for lunch, followed by a brief rest. In the afternoon, we set out for activities starting with a one-hour boat ride on the only freshwater lake in the Kenyan Rift Valley, home to hippos and over 400 bird species. Watch pied kingfishers dive for prey and African fish eagles hunting for the ever-important fish, primarily common carp. Later, we go on a nature walk at Crescent Island, a serene and wildlife-rich location. Afterward, we return to the peaceful ambience of Mwanzo Lodge Naivasha for dinner and an overnight stay.
