I booked two nights at Park Regis City Quays in Cairns to celebrate new years with my friend. On the first night I got back to the hotel room around 1am. As I got to my level the elevator opened up and there was an older male (possibly in his 60s) sitting on the floor facing the lifts completely naked. After I got to my room I called reception to inform them as this made me feel very uncomfortable and unsafe. I could not sleep knowing that a fully grown naked man was outside my door. The following morning I spoke to the receptionist to ensure they were aware of what happened as being a young female in her 20s, seeing something like that makes you feel unsafe and uneasy when youre trying to get to your room. The receptionist completely disregarded and downplayed my concerns and continued to make excuses for this mans actions saying he was just drunk and possibly just trying to find the toilet but locking himself out instead. I was told that as he was a guest, there was nothing they could do. This couldve happened at any hotel, however the complete disregard for other guests safety and the downplaying of behaviour like that was unprofessional. I was never asked if I was ok or reassured the remainder of my stay would be safe. This experiences have left me disappointed and will be choosing to stay elsewhere on our next trip.

Positive side the room had many amenities and provided cutlery and other related item and with great location. On the negative, the front desk staff were not in hotel when we arrived and were informed the same evening (7:30pm when we were in the air of the manner of checking in post-8pm) - frankly we should have been informed earlier

Manner of communication on the check-in process - we were lost when we arrived at the hotel - this could and should have been avoided

Unfortunately, we were stuck in the room for 2 days over Cyclone Jasper, so wasnt the best circumstances but I can confirm that you are able to live / eat in the room for 2 days without leaving as there is a fridge, microwave & kettle. As a whole, room & bathroom were clean. Also there is safe parking under the hotel for $15 a day.

Have to give a $100 deposit when you stay, still havent got the deposit back yet. Reception staff seemed a bit chaotic on checking in but not an issue as it was most likely due to the cyclone.
