Marina Sands Resort

The reception and management really let us down on the very first night, we booked for 2 adults and 3 children, confirmed bed arrangements was - 1 big bed, 2 singles and 1 sofa bed, sounds perfect, we looked for the bedding on the first night for the sofa bed for our 9 yr old. We called reception and was told its Marina Sands policy not to include bedding for the sofa bed, it made no sense, they accepted the booking for 5 but only wanted to bed 4 people, several phone calls later and I asked for a manager to call me back, reception refused at first but then said he would call us the next day, no call came. It really ruined our first impression of the place, they also told us we if we wanted bedding we could have it for 1600Baht a night!!! A complete rip off and completely against the deal we and the hotel had accepted on booking.com We spent around 4000baht in their restaurant before this little surprise,we didnt spend a penny after this time with them because of this situation, to add insult to injury to the situation 2 of us who ordered western food both got food poisoning that night. We then spent the following days looking for bedding to buy our child so he could sleep in his own bed, on day 3 we paid 500 baht from a shop and bought our own bedding for someone elses hotel. Just to clarify, we did not enter 4 people and try to sneak a 5th person in, we entered 5 people and Marina Sands accepted 5 people, they just didnt want to bed 5 people! It was a real shame as the location and quality of the place deserves a much better reception team and management, it could have been the holiday of a life time but instead they decided it was in their interest to try and charge us extra to sleep after accepting the booking, even their own staff offered to bring bedding in for us from their home to borrow but we did not want to cause issues for them so refused and bought our own, DIY HOTEL. We also enquired to hire a car on arrival.
