Lovely scenery, right on the beach - yet quite old and outdated with food on the poorer side

- located on the beach - designated beach area for the hotel - nice sandy beach, quite clean - beautiful scenery- palm trees and chalet - AC in rooms - nice and largely supportive staff - a tourist company desk located at the hotel which offered great tours! Highly recommended, and easily reachable right there - proximity to the Kongo river

- food is quite mediocre, tried lunch a la carte, buffet dinner and breakfast. Breakfast options are especially limited - fruits are very scarce, just pineapple and watermelon, with a few passion fruits - while staff tried to be supportive and overall were nice, the service is still not really efficient and many many kick-ups which could easily be avoided, including many things mentioned in other reviews. The check in - although agreed in advance on the time of arrival was delayed 2+ hours, we had to ask for towels during the day to be brought to the rooms from cleaning etc - beach towels system - you have to go all the way to the pool area to get them, risking a change there would be no one there or no towels at all - in general the hotel is very outdated, shabby and needs proper maintenance and renovation. While it has somewhat a rustic feel to it, its definitely not matching the description or the claimed standard. As we stayed over the new years - it was very highly priced, in other times I would have never paid this much for this kind of hotel - if you are looking to go around and visit other places it is a bit far away, but on the plus side - tuk tuk and taxis are available and easy to get places - next to the hotel there is a mosque and a public area where lots of people hang out in the afternoon, so it gets very crowded

Exceptional

Great place to chill out and relax after a safari.

Our room was right on the beach and the white sand was incredible. The sea was very clean and warm. We had plenty of seating both inside and outside of the room and sunbeds under a shade, under a palm tree on the beach. I celebrated my 75th birthday here and a cake arrived along with singing from the kitchen staff!!! It was lovely. The staff could not be more helpful and friendly. The food was of good quality and always plenty of it.

We arrived back from breakfast on our first 2 mornings to find that our towels had gone for washing and did not return back until 4pm. So much for cleaning our teeth or having a shower after a morning swim!!! We did speak to the hotel manager about this and he assured us he would look into it. The 8pm start of the evening entertainment never happened. It would start anytime up to 9pm. Generally, it was quite poor - not worth staying up for.

Bad food hygiene, needs improvement

The staff was very kind and helpful. The animation team organized interesting events during the evening.

The cleanliness of the kitchen, the hygiene was bad. There were flies all around sitting on the food. We had a fly in our coffee. It was disgusting. My son developed a stomach infection on the second day of our stay and we had to put him on medication for vomiting and stomach ache. Also the rooms are old and require maintenance. We had frequent electricity disruption due to a short circuit leading to the MCB shutting down the supply. We complained multiple times and the electricians came and tried to resolve the issue but it recurred within a couple of hours. Fortunately the AC was not connected to the MCB or we would have to sleep in the hot weather.

Very weak wife and water not being included in the paid meals. I found it mean that meals paid can only include tea and coffee but you cannot switch any of the with a bottle of water without paying an extra 400 sh.

Resting on old laurels and overall, not worth the money.

Lovely, well maintained gardens. Good sized pool and couple of small dip pools within the gardens. Staff very pleasant and helpful. The animation team are good and provide nightly and different productions. Local tuk-tuks available at the hotel entrance which is ideal as there are very few restaurants within walking distance. Though it's a large hotel, it's spread out across the grounds, it felt quite intimate.

Hotel is resting on very old laurels and needs a make-over. The staff are very nice and helpful but the management need to review their own instructions and processes and logistically it appears out of sync. We arrived earlier than the advertised check-in time and though we didn't expect to be given immediate access to our room we knew that the hotel wasn't full and didn't expect to wait nearly 2 hours. The excuse was that the previous occupant hadn't vacated but why allow them extra time if they knew it would be required later when it wasn't full?. Bathroom towels were removed from the room in the morning but replacements didn't arrive until the evening (approx 6pm) and on 3 occasions during the week we had to call reception to request them. Ordered a sandwich at 1:40 for lunch which took 45mins to arrive. The excuse for the delay was that it was busy in the kitchen, but it had been a buffet lunch and everyone had finished and the buffet items already removed and cleaned! Very few seating options for drinks after dinner, and for the few chairs available most had cushions missing. Main communal areas very tired looking. Our beach front room, no 431, didn't have a covered/sheltered patio area so had to sit in the room when it rained, though other rooms had an overhang. Very difficult to close patio doors because of warped woodwork. Weighing less than 8 stones I couldn't manage it on my own. Bathroom needs upgrade. Very few sun shades around the pool.

Hotel badly needs renovation! I was given a room without air conditioning, and with mould growing all all over the ceiling. While the hotel eventually agreed to give me a different room, the toilet then stopped working, as did the shower. My friends also had similar problems, with the hotel in fact trying to give my old mouldy room to my other friend, who was six months pregnant and had asthma... Only after we complained to the management did they agree to give her another room. In general the hotel is in desperate need of repair and renovation. While some of the staff where very kind and friendly, others were extremely rude and constantly pestered us for money. And the food.was really awful, and would often take up to 1.5 hours to arrive. By the third night we had no choice but to leave the hotel to eat elsewhere, despite the fact we were full board. With the current state of the facilities, the quality of the food, and the fact the staff do not stop harassing you for money, I could not recommend this place to anyone! There are many lovely hotels in Diani. Dont go here!

spatious rooms, most friendly staff and wonderful service, beautiful beach & accommodation Food is nice!

cleaning of the rooms could be better, also they need a bit of a refurbishment as quite outdated. Fridge in the room was not working, but i didnt bother too much.
