Disappointing

We have stayed at this property once before and were happy, but in this case we were disappointed. For the asking price, the room is below expectations, the bed is really bad, everything slopes on one side so you have to sleep on the edge. Anonymous room and old furniture.

Office closed at 6pm on Friday and 9pm on Saturday. Very rude staff YOUNG staff. Didnt care about about the customers, kept saying its in the policy!

Mediocre

Having a balcony and fireplace in the room. Privacy was nice.

Hot tub shut off multiple times before 10pm. Wanted to use the hot tub and it auto turned off well before 10. Was told maintenance adjusted it. Got the front desk to turn on the fan over the entry door for us. Upon check out no one asked about our stay. Changed our stay from the normal North Conway Grand Hotel and for the small price difference its well worth it.

We will definitely be returning.

I thought it was very nice of them to let us check into our room early. We drove up the day before but the room we had reserved for the night that they let us in early wasn't available for our first night so we had to stay at a different room the first night so I called the next day and they allowed us to go right into our second room. We didn't have to wait four or five hours to go into that room. I just thought that was very nice of them. I know that's not something they can always do but I was kind of surprised that they allowed us to do that. The rooms were very clean. We enjoyed our stay a lot. I would definitely stay there again.

Beware of this hotel!!!

Beware of this hotel!!!!! Golden Gables Inn is indeed beautiful, but for those who value their money, stay away! When we checked into the hotel, on September 26, 2023, we were told by the receptionist (Kathleen, who was extremally rude) that our credit card did not go through and she asked us for another card. We granted her request, but on every credit card she "tried", she claimed that the transaction was refused. We ended up trying several credit cards until she "realized" her mistake and the charge went through. After a few days, we realized that we were charged 8 times(!!!) for those 2 nights - over $2,000 instead of $262!!! We also verified with the credit card companies, who confirmed that we were indeed charged 8 times, and that the money reached the hotel. We have been trying to get our money back for over a month, but the hotel refuses to reverse the charges or take responsibility for the resulting banking fees. When we call, they just hang up on us. Don't risk your wallet. Find another hotel.
