About Freehand Miami

Very good

Cute and eclectic. Felt historic. Everyone very kind. Safe place for a solo female traveller.

Not a great spot to get to happening stuff. More like residential. Not a good spot if you wanted to meet a guy (as a female) but very quiet and quaint In the mornings. Clean if outdated interior.

Good hostel needs better check-in staff

Bed was nice, small reading light, charging sockets, plenty of nooks and shelf spaces to store stuff, spacious bed, attached bathroom to the rooms and so on

Check-in staff, specifically the young man (looked like a teenager) was so completely bland. He looked like he didn't want to be there at all. Just gave the keys and pointed to the room and that's it. Didn't explain anything about the restrooms, the towels, the activities happening in the hostel, the breakfast, any rules, nothing. Had to come back couple of times to ask. It was jarring because I heard another member of staff in the evening greet other guests and it was exactly as I expect to be greeted at any hotel /hostel. But it felt like a night and day difference

Nice location with beautiful outside area

The Hostel is located very closely to the beach with a beautiful outside area and pool. The staff was very helpful and there was parking available with the hostel right around the corner for about $17. Everything was clean and there were lockers available in the room (bring your own lock).

The elevator didnt work and the breakfast available in the back area was too expensive for the quality of the food ($12). We also got unlucky with a roommate who was on her phone on speaker from about 6am on, which is obviously not the hostels fault but something to keep in mind even if you book a 4-bed room.

Superb

The location is good, very close to a beach and stores. The place is clean and I love the fact that there's a bathroom and toilet in the room that I don't need to go out.

I was given a space up and it was not convenient for me climbing up and down at all. Also the way one of the occupants snored was really disturbing that I couldn't sleep well in the night during those two days of my stay. This is not the fault of Freehand Miami of course.

Would visit for the relaxed and social night life but would stay at Generator the nicer sister hostel

Very close to the 150 Airport bus stop and trolley. Minutes from Anas market which is a grocery store. A block from the beach. Pool is gorgeous at night and the bar is highly rated and pretty social. Also was pretty quiet when I tried to sleep.

The hallways, room and bathroom were run down. Bathroom didnt have a fan and wouldnt close until you tried a few times. Theres also a very strong smell of mold or mildew and its very unpleasant when youre in the hallways or in your room. I had the top bunk and it was uncomfortable as I feel like it smelled worse there. Another traveler would use a small towel to cover her nose. Free bikes but theyre a bit run down too (rusty chains, and some without the rubber on the handlebar). Also, fairly popular amenity and they only have 5 or 6 so dont bank on getting a bike from the hostel. Visited the sister hostel called Generator a few minutes away and it is much nicer. Its newly renovated too. Freehand also doesnt have a water fountain and you have to buy your own but Generator does have one!
