The Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh University Place is a conveniently located property near UPMC Presbyterian, making it ideal for hospital stays. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with a beautiful (Read More)lobby and accommodating staff. However, some guests found the front desk staff to be less personable and helpful. The hotel is in a nice area within walking distance to Carlow University and the University of Pittsburgh, with plenty of nearby restaurants. Parking is valet-only and costs $30 per night. Overall, guests enjoyed their stay despite the ongoing construction in the area.

Unimpressive hotel but close to Univ. Pittsburgh Medical Center.

This hotel has no central heating/air conditioning for the sleeping rooms. Only separate units in each room. The fan in our unit was noisy and could not be turned off--without turning off the entire unit. Breakfast was served by a delightful fellow, but the food was not impressive (scrambled eggs dry, breads cheap and/or old, etc.)

Construction/Demolition Next Door
Good location near all things Pitt-Oakland. The staff was very accommodating of our concerns.
When booking, be aware that there is ACTIVE demolition/construction happening on an adjacent lot (see photo from our room window) Hilton Hotels should disclose this up front and offer a discounted rate if you still choose to book.

They said breakfast was 6 to 10AM everyday and on our last day it was not open and we had to catch our flight. Very disappointed as we woke early to include breakfast

Mediocre, expected much more out of a Hilton
Location was great and staff was positive and helpful
We werent informed there was no parking and had to pay $30USD per night for valet. Staff did not inform us there was cheap parking around the hotel, said we had to pay for valet. I guess we should have asked. The room was extremely stuffy and our noses and throats were dry when we woke up. We checked the AC filter and it literally blew black dust in our faces so it hasnt been changed in a long time. Cleaning staff did not replenish toilet paper and only made one of our beds in between nights.
