The Wai Ora Lakeside Spa Resort offers a nice place to stay away from Rotorua Central, with rooms opening up to the swimming pool and beach access. Guests appreciated the basic amenities and helpful (Read More)late check-in assistance. The hotel has a beautiful location on Holdens Bay, clean rooms, and friendly staff. However, communication challenges were noted with some staff members. Breakfast is � la carte with limited options. The pool and jacuzzi were not utilized by these reviewers.

Very good

A nice place to rest in Rarotonga, not so much for a SPA or other experiences. The room was relatively comfortable as was the bed. The bathroom had a massage tub, however it did not look very clean and we never used it. It is well situated next to the lake shore, suitable for great walk-arounds.

The SPA experience feels like just on paper. There are a couple of massage tubs outside the Hotel and a small pool next to them. Not really useful, however there are great SPA and hot tubs in the town of Rarotonga. The restaurant was under repair and the nearest place to eat was 5 km away, so car was a must.

Great little hideaway

Location is beautiful. Just far enough away that you don't have the chaos of Rotorua but close enough that you can enjoy a five minute car ride to the excitement. Rooms are much bigger than they appear, bathrooms too.

There is not a ramp down from reception to the rooms, so I had to carry my bag. After hours entrance sent you by a smelly dumpster for the restaurant.

It did the job for what we needed but for the price I would have expected more, maybe one free meal.

The beds were very comfy and room was a great size.

Bathroom fan was filthy, and vanity basin needed a bleaching good clean. Light in bathroom was very bright when needing to go in the middle of the night. Bugscreens would be fantastic so we could have ventilation over night as the room got very warm and stuffy. Heat pump was too noisy to have on over night .

Exceptional

Everything was just wonderful!

They had small good store they ran out of their office. One night after closing my adult son knocked on the door he explained his Mum had a terrible headache and was there any way he could purchase some Panadol (Aspirin) for her. They opened up and let him by some and his mother's headache was relieved! It was very nice and we would come back for sure!

Disappointing

Needs improvement in spa, communication and food choice in restaurant and more staff

One member of staff doing multiple roles such as receptionist, bar, concierge, spa bookings, restaurant. No spa treatment bookings available during stay, no advisory to book spa treatments before stay. Sauna and steam broken out of use, hot pool was not hot, outside shower no warm/hot water. Felt unorganised and dysfunctional. Hotel restaurant offered poor food selection.
