This was our second stay - hotel pleasant and in a good place but would not stay again in case there was a real fire!!

Bed large and comfy. Clean

The fire alarm went off at 2-30 am on our last night. There appeared to be no night staff at the hotel. The police arrived but no one from the hotel arrived until I phoned the emergency number we were given on a card at check in. This was after about 30 minutes of the alarm still going off. I obviously woke up the person who answered who said she would send someone. The fire brigade and the manager (?) arrived after another 14/20 mins or so. We were eventually allowed back in. No apologies were given when we checked out later on that morning. I understand these things happen but the hotel was not prepared or organised in the event and was disappointed it wasnt mentioned on checkout.

Great experience and we look forward to a return visit.

The room was well equipped and we especially liked the comfy king-sized bed and the drench shower. Breakfast was excellent but we would have liked a bit more choice / variety e.g. some baked beans!. However, the highlight of our visit was spending time chatting to Cornel, the young Hungarian, receptionist / barman. He was great company and a fascinating character. He also helped us with recommendations for dining options and nothing ever seemed too much trouble for him. He even remained cheerful during the fire alarm evacuation on Sunday morning!

The bar has no draught beer and it ran out of Sauvignon Blanc early on Sunday evening / Hogmanay - poor planning! Otherwise, I cannot think of any other negatives.

The scot is a nice hotel and we will be staying again.

Location was perfect as we're the staff would definitely stay again.

The room was a bit small and only 1 chair. Shower/bathroom was fine.

Health hazard with mediocre service

The location is good and free car parking is convenient. The bar area is spacious and clean but with no character or atmosphere (possibly because the service is lacklustre).

The room was riddled with mould. When brought to the attention the man on reception he suggested we post a (public) review - no apology, just a brief suggestion that housekeeping is continually cleaning the mould and that the owners are aware of the problem. The room smelled damp and I assumed it had mould as I developed a sore throat and cough after the first night - we didn't discover the extent of the mould until later. I would wonder how the hotel can knowingly put paying customers in to a space they know is not fit for purpose. The very small bathroom had nowhere to hang anything - hook on back of door had been broken off. There was no shelf for toiletries either. Do not stay here.
