Very good

Great hotel, in a great location.

Hotel was a lovely find in an amazing area. The restaurant on site was beautiful with good food and atmosphere.

Lack of water in the room and no shops nearby, so recommend taking your own. But that is minor, everything else is really good value for money, will be revisiting.

Wonderful stay, would recommend and stay again.

The room was excellent, we stayed in the Clock Tower Suite (aka room 68). It was much bigger than we thought it was going to be, very warm and incredibly comfortable. Having stayed there now, if I were to stay again (and I would), I'd probably stay for a couple of nights, to make the most of the suite. The TV in the main room was a great size and the sofas very comfortable. The restaurant was fantastic! The vegan pizza there amazing, and the staff incredibly helpful and professional.

A small number of things. I did message the venue 2x to ask about vegan options for breakfast, and even today (after I've checked out) they haven't responded, so I do feel a bit annoyed that I've been ignored twice. I did eventually realize their breakfast menu was online and can say there's only 1 vegan option for 10 which is avocado on toast. Whilst the room was great, I was puzzled by the wardrobe (see the photo). I'm 5ft 1inch and could just about hang my clothes up, I've no idea why the railing was so high. They also don't have a charging point, I think this is a basic that every hotel should have. I was instead directed to the BP garage 7 minutes away, only to get there and find no working chargers. Not the fault of the hotel, but again, I think they should have had at least 2 chargers for guests.

Great ambiance - a lovely treat

Wonderful ambiance in the bar, snug and restaurant area. Particularly love the sofas around the fireplace and the great wine list. The starters in the restaurant were delicious. My steak main wasn't good but my friends had good main courses so maybe I just picked badly. Great atmosphere though. And they have lovely pods for 8 people outside which looked a lot of fun. And the location is wonderful - right on the river in Sonning. Nothing to do in the area but really beautiful nonetheless and Henley and Marlow are really close by if you fancied.

I didn't like staying in the twin room outside the main building. I have stayed before in a king room in the main building and it was really beautiful and full of character. The twin room is in a block that feels like university halls and the room, though big and comfortable, was devoid of character. If you book, make sure you ask for a king in the main building.

NO HOT WATER IN SHOWER.. ROOM 81(FIRST ROOM OFFERED) NO HOT WATER IN SHOWER.. ROOM 80 (2ND ROOM OFFERED) EVENTUALLY HOT WATER IN SHOWER.. ROOM 82, BUT RADIATOR TO HOT TO TOUCH & COULDN'T FIND CONTROL.. ALSO HEATING IN MAIN ROOM WAS LIKE SAUNA .. HAD TO OPEN WINDOWS & TURN RAD OFF. !!! UH

Accused of Stealing the Handwash!!!

Large room and comfy bed

I was accused by email of stealing handwash! Why on earth I would want handwash from a hotel is beyond me but they emailed and said I had stolen it and were going to charge my card. Absolutely shocking and completely untrue. The handwash and hand lotion were by the sink when I left the room. They were too highly scented and not something I would ever want. I can buy my own handwash. I would laugh but Im too cross!

Great Hotel in a Super Location

Lovely big room comfortable bed clean with wonderful smelling toiletries. The room was also lovely and warm and on the ground floor as requested. The staff are polite and friendly and the location right by the river is fabulous.

The only gripe I have is that there wasn't a mirror on the 'dressing table'. I think whoever designed the rooms didn't appreciate that women especially need a mirror with good lighting AND nearby plug sockets for straighteners and hairdryer. Getting ready to go out was extremely difficult without these facilities.
