Very good

The view to the drinking hole was amazing, and what peace and privacy! You could just sit in the porch all day watching animals such as lions, elephants, buffalo and rhinos come to drink (not forgetting a pod of hippos and crocodiles in the pond). The staff was also very friendly and made us feel welcome, even though it seemed that we were the only guests at Camp Shawu at the time. Food was also very good, and room decorations added a nice touch.

The floor of the room was dusty and the cushions in deck chairs were tattered and worn out, but these could be easily fixed to give it a more luxury feel.

The location of the tented camp is wonderful. The beds including pillows were excellent and the staff were wonderful

Hot water has to be switched on so I was not able to shower during the evening / early morning and the lighting in the tent was beautiful but poor

Great game experience within the Kruger Park. Highly recommend.

An older camp but definitely made up for it with location, animal sightings, comfort, great food and overall great experience. Would highly recommend, especially if tight on time and want to get to the lodge without driving too long once inside Kruger Park.

Great location and game drives.

Camp Shawu is my favorite destination in Kruger, situated right by the dam, you can see lots of animals in between game drives. Accommodation is spacious with a beautiful bed. Great breakfast. We had Sifiso as our ranger and he is the greatest guy to have. He went the extra mile to check for Leopard and we were rewarded with the most amazing sighting. Elephant seems to pass the units between 12 and 1pm and 8/9pm what a sight

The tent structure bits need a bit of maintenance and not all could be tied down because torn off, so the flapping was quite noisy during a windy night.

If you're reading the reviews and trying to decide whether or not to book, stop and BOOK NOW! If you would like more information, read on. Our game ranger Simon was absolutely amazing! We saw lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards, buffalos, cheetahs, hyenas, zebras, giraffes, impala, wildebeest, antelope, hippos, crocodiles, warthogs, kudus, porcupines, guinea pigs, guinea fowls, jackels, civet, monkeys, baboons and many bird species including eagles and vultures. Simon's spotting skills are excellent, he even spotted animals in the dark. The staff at the lodge are extremely friendly and welcoming. The chef is awesome, the food was delicious and they catered to some of our very difficult dietary requirements. Thank you Shishangeni for an amazing 2 night stay!

Large reserve packed with many animal species just for guests. Excellent guide (Harold) and chef (Regina). Individual cabin is spacious and everything works. Good Wi-Fi in lodge.

My preference is not to have game drives that run into the night where its hard to see. However this the norm for all lodges.

Beautiful settings and friendly dedicated staff

Well done Shishangeni team! We had a wonderful stay. The gravel road enroute to the lodge is very good . The scenery is beautiful and one can enjoy plenty of wildlife encounters. Our game drives with a very professional ranger were awesome too as he really strives to deliver the best experience to his guests.

The massage was very good, thank you to the therapist. Because it was winter, it was a bit cold though and the experience could benefit from an electric blanket
