Scandic Spectrum

The hotel charges to store luggage which I do expect in some hotel but not in a larger chain like Scandic. We 'upgraded' to a family room in order to check in early. I was a bit confused that a family room doesn't have a fridge or tea/coffee making facilities. On the Sunday, there is no food available in the bar/restaurant at all and there is no room service option. When sharing this information the barman wasn't helpful at all. On our final morning, we'd been informed that breakfast would be in a different location because of renovation. This wasn't an issue and well communicated however we got to breakfast at 7am when it started and the food was already cold. We understand changing location causes issues but the alternative venue seemed to be an area used for events and meetings so this can't have been the first time 'hot' food had been served here.

We arrived at 2PM and were advised that we cannot check-in until 3PM, which is fine. We asked if we can enjoy a drink in the bar meanwhile, and the answer was yes, of course. There was no staff in the bar, we asked the kitchen staff and they told us they cannot find anyone that works in the bar. After another 30 minutes, a 2nd receptionist told us that they will not have any staff until 3PM in the lobby bar, as well as the rooftop bar. At 3PM we went to check-in, it took approx. 30 minutes for the man to help us. He claimed that there is a system error and he could not find our booking (I had 2 rooms booked) although I showed him the booking reference. Not only was this disappointing and unproffessional, he left us waiting without informing at all what is going on. At last, he managed to find a room and we were given the keys. Mind you - he did not inform us anything about what floor the rooms are located or the time table for the breakfast etc. Luckily we heard the information from his colleague next to him instead. Upgraded for sea view, but half the view blocked by a wall. After heading out for dinner we arrived back home a few minutes before 11PM on Friday 30th of December, where to our surprise bar is once again closed. On your own website it states that the rooftop bar should be open til midnight, which it wasn't. The staff was rude and questionned us when we asked why the bar is not open, and told us that we are wrong and we should read the website properly. I took a printscreen on your own site to show that the bar should have indeed been open until midnight. We ended up heading to another hotel next door just to enjoy a drink. All in all - a pity as the hotel has potential, but we were utterly disappointed with the lack of service and proffessionalism.

- The location is perfect! Few minutes walk from Tivoli and some nice monuments. Great place to start the walk alongside the harbour. - Breakfast was more than enough and there was always a place to sit (warm oat milk and ginger shots rules!). - The interior of the Hotel and the rooms - high standard There was not an element that would not be 100% working. - The hotel staff is very well organized and happy to help. - The common spaces are very clean and well designed. - The hotel has plenty of different amenities we didn't even have a chance to use [cab button, umbrella rental, gym]. - The internet worked perfectly throughout our whole stay. - We loved playing cards in the lobby in the evenings!
