The Johnson Hostel in Hong Kong exceeded expectations and provided excellent accommodations. The owner and staff were friendly and welcoming. The location in Mong Kok was ideal for exploring the bust (Read More)ling city. While the entrance to the hostel was sometimes crowded, it did not detract from the overall experience. The amenities provided were sufficient and the owners were kind and helpful. The vibrant neighborhood offered plenty of options for dining and shopping, and the hostel was easily accessible by public transport.

Best price value and cleanness of our room

Central location, well connected by metro and busses. Very good price and overall confortable in relation to the price spent. Luckily our window was facing outside and not toward the inner courtyard which would have otherwise been much more dump.

A bit of difficulties talking with the owner since her english is very poor. The shared spaces can be a bit dirty and the building is a labirinth, although very typical of hongkong mong kok area.

Budget and gd location

Location is very good. Nearby got many many restaurants. Opposite and behind street also have 7-11. Near to mtr exit too. And madam Ho is a very nice lady.

Building is quite old. A bit smell. And lift is small.

Superb

It's clearly not the Hyatt: the room is small, no closet and the toilette is tiny but still, I liked it. It gives the full Hong Kong experience. The staff is nice, they change towels daily and the position is the best.

Good enough if you are looking for a budget place..

Its just few steps away from Mongkok MTR Stn. and Ladies Market is just across the street. The staff are very accomodating..

Rooms are too small which i think is just normal in HK..Smelly and untidy hallway. Bed is not comfy, twas kinda hard.

Great customer service and amazing stay during Hong Kong

I like how they accommodate me during midnight as one booking cancelled on me. I'm really thankful for the owner to respond to me quickly and it does exceeds my expectations when it comes to my stay as I decided to extend it for 5 days. My room that I had was amazing and perfect. The owner and the staff are the best. They greet me every time I saw them. The bathroom is narrow but I think that's the Hong Kong aesthetic. I like how it was in the middle of Hong Kong bustling city. Mong Kok location is the perfect stay for me.

What I didn't like does not affect my stay itself but going inside Sincere House where the hostel is. Sometimes, the elevator might be crowded, you need to go to the other side of the Sincere House which is also the entrance during 12AM.

The owner was very friendly and kind and flexible regarding our needs. The location of the hostel is also perfect, right in the middle of a lively and interesting neighborhood. They cleaned the rooms everyday and changed towels when needed. The AC was very effective.

The rooms are really, really small (but this is normal in Hong Kong I guess) and have no windows. The room also smelled a bit bad (old and moist) when the AC had been off. At the time of our stay for some reason there was someone drilling and hammering every morning nearby in the building so that woke me and my boyfriend up every morning and it was very loud. Luckily it wasn't before 10 am but we go to bed late so in our case it was annoying.

Very welcoming amazing host and staff

There is a dirty smell in the building. But NOT in the hostel. After the elevator broke, we had to take the stairs and I was so surprised by that strong smell...also how the building was old and worn out..
