Wonderful hotel from which to explore Heraklion!

The hotel is situated close to 25th of August Street, which teems with restaurants and souvenir shops, and is pedestrian only. We chose a room with a lovely view of the water and Venetian fortress. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. Staff is most helpful and friendly. The breakfast is an absolute feast for the eyes as well as the palate! Restaurant staff is exuberantly warm and welcoming.

As I recall, bedside lighting wasn't optimal for reading. The easy entrance, if you have lots of luggage, is located right off the parking area below. We were on foot from the ferry and missed that entrance, as it's not intuitive or well marked. We used the main entrance at street level, which meant schlepping our luggage up many steps. Other than that, we loved staying at the GDM Megaron Hotel.

High recommended for the hotel and the staff

Apart from the room - which was fabulous, light, spacious and well-appointed - the staff were fantastic. They were very helpful assisting me track my delayed luggage. In particular Effie was brilliant.

The restaurant menu for dinner was quite limited (but breakfast was sumptuous)

Comfortable and easy stay in Heraklion

Excellent location, easy parking, staff super kind and helpful, comfy bed. Best hotel breakfast I've ever had and it's not even close.

We visited in the winter and the HVAC could not be set to cool, room was too warm so we had to open the windows but there was a lot of noise from the road below.
